Notification with the passing of Florence Hebert Hill, widow
of WAL Captain Sydney Airnsworth Hill. Florence was near 90 years of
age at the time of her passing. Captain Hill hired on with Western Airlines
09-27-1944 and retired in September 1976, based Los Angeles. Born 09-10-1916,
Captain Hill passed on 07-08-1998.

Florence Hill passed away on February 17, 2014 after a lengthy illness just
four days before her 90th birthday. She was born in Chicago, the youngest child
of five children, to Louis and Selma Hebert. The family moved to Los Angeles
when she was a youth where she graduated from Immaculate Heart High
School.
During the 1940's while employed as a stewardess for Western Airlines she
met and married Captain Sidney Hill. They lived in Park La Brea for five decades
with Sid passing away in 1998.
Florence also worked in the Park La Brea rental office for several years
during the 1980s and 1990s.
After suffering a stroke in 2009, she relocated to Torrance near her
son.
She is survived by her son Paul, granddaughters Sierra and Skylar plus
nieces and nephews residing in various parts of the country.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday February 24, 2014 at 1 PM at
Forest Lawn 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale in the Gardens of Memory. Attendees
should meet at Forest Lawn's front gate information booth between 12:30 – 12:45
PM for an escort to the gated area of the graveside services.
