NAL/PAA/DL retired pilot Michael Louis Smargiassi, age 84. Mike joined
National Airlines 12-20-1956, made the mergers with Pan American and Delta,
and retired with Delta Air Lines.

Flight Engineer/Pilot
Michael Louis Smargiassi, 84, Clermont, passed away March 7, 2014 at
South Lake Hospital. He was born September 29, 1929 in Bronx, NY son
of Incornata Cinquino & Nicholas Smargiassi. He served in the US Air
Force during the Korean Conflict. On September 18, 1954 he was united
in marriage to Frances Gloria Douglass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman
Catholic Church in Bronx. He was a retired Flight Engineer and Pilot,
retiring from Delta Airlines, and was a member and former secretary &
treasurer of National Airlines Buccaneers Club. A South Florida
resident from Fort Lauderdale area since 1956, he was a Clermont
resident since 1982. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic

Visitation and Mass:
Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Smargiassi will be held at 11:00 AM
on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church,
celebrated by Reverend Roy Eco. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM
on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Should friends desire,
please consider a contribution to the church in lieu of flowers.

Word has been received of the passing of long time NAL Buccaneers
Secretary Treasurer and Flight Engineer Mike Smargiassi. To say he
will be missed is a massive understatement. He was a wonderful friend
to all who knew him. John Wentworth will be discussing Mike and his
accomplishments at a later time. Arrangements are as follows:
