I flew with Taft on the 727 out of LAX and he was always a joy to fly with. I especially loved his "bird deflection hat," that black leather hat bejeweled with colored beads that he swore would fend off any birdstrikes. It definitley worked whenever I flew with him! It had been ages since we last chatted and I regret not keeping in better touch with him. He was a great pilot and a better man. May he rest in peace. Regards, Capt. Kevin M.
