Nordlund, Donald R. 86, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, previously Minneapolis, "Flew West" on April 2, 2013. Don was born February 3, 1927, and developed an interest in flying at an early age which eventually resulted in a 37-year career as a pilot for Northwest Airlines. Preceded in death by parents Ruben and Helen Nordlund. Survived by Phyllis, his wife of 61 years; daughters Paula (Joe) Wendling and Cindy (Tom) Fowler; grandchildren Holly (Ray) VanWye, Trevor Wendling and Alissa (Alex) Tofte; great grandson Noah VanWye. Committal service on Monday, April 29 at 1:00 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery (Please arrive at Gate 2, Assembly Area 2 at 12:45) followed by a gathering of family and friends in Rosemount. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to charity of choice.

Notification of the passing of retired NWA pilot and RNPA member Captain Donald Ruben Nordlund, age 86. Born/raised in Minnesota, Donald Nordlund was an Army Air Corps veteran having enlisted July of 1945. Captain Nordlund hired on with Northwest 04-05-1949 and retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1987.

Survived by his wife Phyllis personal condolences may be sent to the family at        3 Oceans West Blvd, Apt 6D2
