Notification of the passing of Vietnam war veteran and retired
NWA pilot Captain Joseph Eugene Cecil Martin Sr., age 75. Born/raised in Texas,
Captain Martin was nearing his 76th birthday at the time of his passing.
Captain Martin hired on with Northwest 10-24-1966 and retired at the
mandatory age 60 in 1997.

1937 - 2013
Joseph Eugene Martin Sr., 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14,
2013. Joseph was born April 4, 1937, to the late Coy and Ester Martin in Lufkin.
He proudly served our country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps and served a
tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. Joseph retired after many
dedicated years as a pilot with Northwest Airlines. Survivors: Sons, Joseph
Martin Jr. and Bruce Martin; daughters, Michelle Lemon and Suzanne Martin;
granddaughter, Brianna Reed; aunt, Ester Dezelda; and many friends.
