Capt. G. Bruce Waterman

August 22, 1936 ~ October 6, 2013  

Word has been received with the passing of retired DL Captain George Bruce Waterman, age 77.  Captain Waterman first hired on with United and after a layoff, was hired by Delta Air Lines 11-19-1962.  Captain Waterman retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1996, based DFW and 031/ATL at the time of his retirement.  His family writes that a family graveside service was held this morning October 7th at the Tool Cemetery in Tool TX.  A memorial service is planned for Wednesday evening October 9, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral home in Seven Points, Texas.  Survived by his wife Julia personal condolences may be sent to the family at 1320 E.  George Bruce Waterman was born August 22, 1936 to George and Evelyn Waterman in Chicago, Illinois.   His parents moved to Covina, California where he grew up on a chicken farm.  He joined the California Air Guard in the 50’s and later the Texas Air Guard and flew as an airline pilot 34 years for Delta Air Lines.  He married Julia Ann on October 26, 1974 in Hillsdale, Michigan, they had 3 daughters; Susan Waterman of Tool, Texas;  Cheryl Waterman Goodwin and Julie Waterman Wingard both of Austin, Texas.   Bruce (as everyone knew him) was a devoted father, husband and grandpa to Dane Isaac Goodwin.   In his retirement years Bruce enjoyed touring with the Dallas Model A Ford Club and spending time with his family.  He was a co-founder and active member of the Wild Olive Branch ministries in Tool, Texas.  A family graveside service was held Monday morning October 7th, 2013 at the Tool Cemetery in Tool, Texas.  A memorial service is planned for Wednesday evening October 9, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral home in Seven Points, Texas.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Biblical Foundations Academy mailed to 3348 Park Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55407.

Bruce Waterman, age 77, passed on this morning after a battle with cancer.  Bruce and I were longtime friends for over 50 years. 

He and I began our airline careers with United Air Lines, and after a layoff, we were hired by Delta in 1962 remaining close friends in the DFW base.

He was a good man to all he knew and will be sorely missed by our family.
