Notification with the passing of USAF veteran retired pilot Captain John Quinton Scott Jr., age 82.  Captain Scott made the mergers with North Central and Republic Airlines, retiring from Northwest Airlines in 1992 with 33 years of commercial flying.

John Q. Scott
 
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – John Quinton Scott, 82, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Wapella, passed away on Saturday (July 5, 2014).
He was born April 16, 1932, a son of John Quinton and Ruth (Willson) Scott. He attended school in Tuscola, where his father was Extension farm adviser. He graduated in 1950 after which the family moved to the Scott family farm near Wapella.
John attended the University of Illinois for one year and then became a brakeman for the I.C.R.R. in Clinton. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, becoming a 1st lieutenant with six years service.
He married Christine Siegel on May 23, 1959, and was a pilot for North Central, Republic, Northwest (now known as Delta) airlines for 33 years, living near Minneapolis and later Florida.
John is survived by his wife, Christine, and three children, Kathryn (Dave) Gilb of Phoenix, Ariz., Johnny Scott and Wendy (Dan) Rogers of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Ian and Jason Gilb of Phoenix, Payton, Johnson, and Brody Scott, and Allison, Megan and Collen Rogers of Boynton Beach, Fla.
He is also survived by his sister, Joan Scott Lappin of Clinton; nephews, Larry Lappin of Effingham, John Lappin of Wapella and Jim Lappin of Randolph, N.J., and niece, Nancy Primeaux of Clinton, and their families; plus numerous cousins and their families in the Clinton area.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Art Lappin of Clinton; and daughter-in-law, Nancy "Schaz" Scott of Boynton Beach, Fla.
Cremation rites were accorded.
