Lawrence Joseph Schmitz
Larry Schmitz, was born in Big Stone City, South Dakota May 26, 1923. He was one of six children of William and Tillie Schmitz. He graduated from Osmond Community Schools in Osmond Nebraska in 1941. After returning from WWII Larry attended the University of Washington.
On January 3rd 1943 Larry married Virginia May Talbott in Seattle WA. After 63 years of marriage Virginia died on November 3rd, 2006 while the two resided at Horizon House Retirement facility in Seattle. The couple had two daughters Kathleen Ann and Stacey Lee who are deceased and a surviving son Steven.
Larry learned to fly in the Army Air Corps and served time in WWII. He used his like for flying to launch a 37-year career as an airline pilot and retired from Republic Airlines in 1982. This career gave Larry and Virginia many domestic and international travel opportunities. (WCA, AW, HAW)
Larry enjoyed the many activities at Horizon House including several years of service in the Monday Market. As a gentle person he was a lover of people and relationships. He valued his friendships with many and had a generous heart.
Larry is at peace now, reunited with the loved ones who have preceded him. A memorial for him will be held at:
