PAA/DAL Capt. William 'Bill' Charles Ellis Sr.

July 24, 1944 ~ March 8, 2015

News with the passing of ALPA member retired PAA/DL pilot Captain Bill Ellis has been received, but I've not been able to locate an online obituary to date.  Family tree information tells me that Bill is the son of Hiram F.B. Ellis and Marie Hazzard Ellis who were living in Philadelphia at the time of their marriage in 1938.  Friends tell us that Captain Ellis was a Navy Aviator and after the Navy he flew for Ransome Airlines, which led to Pan American World Airways (hire date with Pan Am 06-10-1987) and his retirement with Delta Air Lines.   I believe he was based 030/LGA.  Captain Ellis is survived by his wife Maureen, their children and grandchildren.

Bill passed quietly , surrounded by his family. He was stricken with Esophageal Cancer. Bill was a kind and gentle man, while a decorated warrior. Always in good humor and fun to be around. We'll all miss him.
