Lester Francis Reinig obituary.........................................
Reinig, Lester, age 91, passed away peacefully in his own home, on September 10, 2015. "Les" was born May 2, 1924 in Portsmouth, Iowa and led an inspiring life full of adventure, national pride and self-sacrifice. Les served is country with distinction in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He traveled and served in Africa, India and the Philippines; a far cry from his small hometown of Garner, Iowa. Les and his family moved to Arizona in 1954 to start his airline pilot career with Bonanza Airlines. After retiring from the airlines, he shared his powerful love for learning and exploration with his family. Never slowing down, he began bicycling in the annual Ragbrai Race across Iowa into his late 60's.While visiting natural and cultural sights, he gave his family a lifelong love for travel. Les was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Wilma (1930-2004), his brothers Russ, Don and Kenneth, and sister Darlene. He is survived by daughter, Pam and three sons, Alan (Graciela), John (Denise) and Karl (Elizabeth). Also, his brother, James (Darlene), sister RoseAnn and sister-in-law Mary. He is survived by five grandchildren, Alex (Casey), Michelle (Brad), Michael, Kaitlyn, Cousteau, Christopher and Sawyer. Additionally, he was blessed with six beautiful great-grandchildren; Tyler, Liliana, Anthony, Ethan, Andrew and Alessandra. Services to be held at St. Steven's Catholic Church, Tuesday, September 15th, rosary at 9:15 a.m., memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.  Published in The Arizona Republic on Sept. 13, 2015
