We have just received this belated news
of Captain Veskrna's passing. Born/raised in the Chicago area to Czech
immigrant parents Louise and Frank Joseph Veskrna, Captain Veskrna was 80 years
of age at the time of his passing in December. He first joined Bonanza Air
Lines 09-22-1964, made the merger with Hughes Airwest, and would have retired
then with Northwest Airlines. Captain Veskrna was widowed. Married in
California on Dec. 19, 1970, his wife Alberta Jean 'Betty' Veskrna passed away
in March of 2006. Captain Veskrna had most recently resided in Boulder City,
Nevada. If anyone has more information to share, please let us know so that we
may update our memorial site.

part that we rcvd:
"I just
learned that Frank Veskrna (Pilot, Pacific I believe...on through to NWA?)
passed away in Dec. He was one of the "Good Guys "!
He lived
in Boulder City, NV. No obit or death notice. I had been trying to call him for
a couple of weeks with no answer. So I contacted the Boulder police department
for a welfare check. A neighbor told the officers he passed mid
December.................................."
Mluvil jsem s Frankem v květnu 2011. Byl to mého otce bratranec. Daroval mi svou knihu FLYING CAN BE FUN. Moc milý pán, vyprávěl mi o létání, jeho veteránech - autech. Slíbil jsem, že zavolám, až přeložím jeho knihu. Jsem špatný v angličtině.... ..už jsem to nestihl. Sbohem Franku a pořádně si tam nahoře zalétej... Vít Kožina Třebíč CR
ReplyDeleteFrank was someone special...anybody who knew him just loved him and his stories...that's the best background for his love of aviation and the type of fun loving, great person he was...'Flying Can Be Fun' was dictated to a writer and was published a couple of times..and each the publisher went broke...I noticed it's on Amazon at a huge price...maybe we can get it re-published at a smaller price so we all can enjoy his thoughts.

Frank passed away December 17, 2015 and is buried next to his wife Alberta in the Boulder City Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada. The cemetery is near the Boulder City Municipal airport and you can hear the purr of engines as flights land and take off from this small town airport.
