Burriss, Donna "Marlene"
After a long and brave battle with COPD, Marlene Burriss died on February 10, 2018, at the age of 79. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Virginia Lundberg, and her husband, David Burriss. During the glory days of the airline industry, Marlene and her many friends in the Northwest Airlines Pilots Wives Club organized extravagant events to raise funds for the Minnesota Heart Association. She also devoted her time to volunteering for the Mound Westonka School District. Marlene and David shared a passion for travel and were fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit all parts of the world during their 47 years together. Marlene is survived by her two sisters; Joan Kern of Marquette, KS, and Joyce (Larry) DaCosta of Seattle, WA; her son Rod (Cathy) Burriss, daughter Jenny (Steve) Semen-kewitz, beloved grandchildren Lisa (Chris) Mangefrida, Jackie and Brian Burriss; great-grandson, Caleb, and many life-long friends. Near the end of her life, Marlene said she didn't want those left behind to grieve. In her own words, she requested no tears, just cheers for the life she lived and loved. A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Church in Navarre; Friday, February 16, 2018; 3:00pm. Memorials preferred to the Good Shepherd Church Youth Ministry.

Capt. David Reed Burriss, 70, who retired in 1995 after 30 years of service as a commercial airline pilot for Northwest Airlines, died Monday at home.
Mr. Burriss, an Air Force veteran, was born in Steubenville, Ohio, and came here four months ago from Tennessee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed travel, cruises and flying.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marlene; a son, Rod; a daughter, Jenny Semenkewitz; a brother, John; and two grandchildren. Lohman-Palm Coast, is in charge.
