Obituary....................
Bob Andrews, 88, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Kindred Pulmonary Hospital, Melbourne, Fla.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Remer, Minn., Oct. 20 at 11 a.m., including the internment of ashes, and a reception.

Born to Walter and Kathryn Andrews Sept. 9, 1929, in Crosby, Minn, Bob grew up in Remer. He was the oldest son, with seven sisters and one brother.

Serving in the Army Engineer Transportation Corps after World War II, he was stationed near Yokohama at age 17 during the occupation of Japan. He was certified to drive every type of moving vehicle in the army, and he drove all but one. He was recalled for the Korean War from 1950-51.

Flying was one of Bob's great loves. Bob got his commercial pilot's license in 1956, and began flying for North Central Airlines in 1957. He served as a pilot for North Central, Republic and Northwest Airlines. When he retired in 1989, he had flown DC-3's, Convair 440's and 580's, and DC-9's, and had seen the airline industry grow from regional "puddle-jumpers" to international long-distance carriers.

Some of his other loves were heavy equipment, friends and family. He kept in touch with many people, from near and distant family and relatives, to people he flew with as a young co-pilot while learning the craft. He was the type of person who could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone, and he did.

He married his first wife Dolores Georgia in 1949, and had three children, R. Scott, Thomas and Candace. They lived in Minnesota, Michigan, and Colorado. They subsequently divorced.

In 1991, Bob married Donna Palmer. Their marriage brought him two stepchildren, Lynn and Mike. After his retirement, he and Donna lived in Walker, Minn., then moved to Grant, Fla., in 1999. They greatly enjoyed their retirement years and travelled extensively throughout the country in their RV.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Kathryn; sisters Shirley, Janice and Barbara; and first wife Dolores.

He is survived by his wife Donna; children R. Scott, Thomas (Lora) and Candace; stepchildren Lynn (Jeff) Waska and Mike (Tina) Palmer; grandchildren Alexandra "Sasha," Schyler, Hailee and Joseph (Waska); great-grandson Parker; and siblings Elizabeth "Bette" (Glenn) Swankier, Darlyne (George) Coffman, Kathryn "Kay" (Duane) Beaugard, Patricia (Richard) Engen and James (Bridget) Andrews.

He is missed by many.
