USAF veteran, NC/RC/NWA Capt. John "Jack" E. Engel
December 14, 1933 ~ March 19, 2020


Notification with the passing of retired North Central/Republic/Northwest Airlines pilot Captain John ‘Jack’ Elden Engel, age 86.  Captain Engel is survived by his wife Joanne, his children and his grandchildren.

Obituary……………
Engel, John "Jack" E. age 86 of Bloomington, MN, passed away March 19, 2020. He was born to Elden and Loretta (Knauer) Engel on 12/14/33 in Rushford, MN. An alumnus of St. Thomas University, his participation in the ROTC program led to active service in the U.S. Air Force and the MN Air National Guard. Jack was hired as a pilot by North Central Airlines, eventually flying for Republic and Northwest Airlines. His passions in life included flying; fishing; golf; the MN Twins; but most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Bruchman. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanne; sons *Chris (Debbie) Engel and Chuck (Deb Weiss) Engel; grandsons Sean, Jeff, Jack and Brett; great grandchildren, Henry, Abby, Millie and Ella. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard's Catholic Church with Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
