DL Capt. Jerome Thomas Weber

 UPDATE:  Sharing this update…..Captain Weber is survived by his loving and devoted wife Tracey of 23 years along with their children Alexandra and James.  Captain Weber’s passing was due to complications of pneumonia & sepsis.

Navy veteran, DL  Capt. Jerome Thomas Weber

Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Jerome ‘Jerry’ Thomas Weber, age 68.  Captain Weber joined Delta Air Lines 09-27-1985 and retired with Delta in 2016.  He is survived by his children and his grandchildren.

Obituary………………Captain Jerome Thomas Weber, 68, loving father of five, passed away with dignity Monday Sept. 14, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.  Jerry was born Nov. 21, 1951 in Detroit, MI to Judge William Weber and L. Muriel Weber. He graduated Michigan State University in 1976. Thereafter he was commissioned by the U.S. Navy where he found his passion for flying, acquiring the callsign "Sparky", he served eight years as a Fighter Pilot flying the F-4 Phantom and A-4 Skyhawk. Continuing his dream for flying he ended his aviation career with Delta Air Lines after 31 years, retiring as a Captain on the Boeing 777 in 2016.

 

Living life a bit on the edge Jerry had an immense passion for motorcycles, airplanes, automobiles, fitness, and family. He was an avid reader and was rarely found without a book or magazine in his hands. He found serenity embarking on week long motorcycle trips across the country and spending time with his family. Above all, he was a loving and caring father that took great pride in the successes of his five children and three grandchildren. Jerrys' adventurous spirit, captivating story telling, supportive advice and love will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, mother and brothers, John and Jim. He is survived by his five children, Rex (Anne), Kelly (Katie), Dylan, Alexandra and James; three grandchildren; brothers, Joe and Jeff; as well as his sisters, Fran, Marian, Liz and Barb.

 

Jerry will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military honors on Thursday Oct. 29, 2020. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island, FL is in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jerome T. Weber's name to cancer research of your choice.
