Obituary :  Paul "Boomer" Lynch

Lakewood Ranch, FL - Paul John Lynch of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Cary, NC passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2021 at the age of 72. He had just completed swimming laps when he went into cardiac arrest. He died doing something he loved.

Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, son of Kathleen and John Lynch, Paul grew up in Ridgefield, CT and fondly remembered childhood antics and adventures with his three siblings John, Pat and Phil. He graduated from St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT in 1971 and upon graduation married his wife Anne. They met at a Simon & Garfunkel concert and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in July.

Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and completed a seven year tour as a naval aviator flying fixed wings and helicopters. He was stationed in Pensacola, FL, Brunswick, ME, and Milton, FL. That was followed by a long career with Delta Air Lines where he was captain and line check airman on the 727 and captain on the 757 and 767. Paul and Anne raised their two girls Colleen and Katie in East Sandwich, MA where Paul spent some of his best days sailing in Nantucket Sound, surfing at Coast Guard Beach and water-skiing in Cape Cod Bay. He had a special tight-knit group of friends on the Cape and they celebrated New Year's Eve together for over 30 years.

He settled into retirement in Lakewood Ranch surrounded by another group of friends who were like family. Paul loved spending time outside on the golf course, riding his motorcycle, swimming and landscaping.

His starring role however was "Boomer" to his four dear grandchildren. He cultivated a special relationship with each one of them. They looked up to him as both a friend and mentor.

He leaves behind a family who will miss him every day: beloved wife and best friend, Anne; daughters, Colleen Heiden and Katie Baker; sons-in-law, Patrick Heiden and Andrew Baker; grandchildren, Liam, Lilly, Olivia and Owen; sister, Patricia Fisher; and brothers, John Lynch and Phil Lynch.

A memorial Mass will take place Monday, April 19 at 10am in Florida.
