NWA Capt. H. Thomas Nunn

Notification with the passing of RNPA member retired Northwest pilot Captain Hugh Thomas “Tom” Nunn, age 86.  Captain Nunn joined Northwest Airlines 05-23-1958.  He is survived by his wife Janice, his son Thomas and his grand- and great grandchildren.  Obituary information for Captain Nunn is available online at

Obituary :  H. Tom Nunn, 86, passed away on June 27, 2021 at St Francis Hospital in Shakopee following a stroke.

The family will plan a private memorial service.

Tom was born October 26, 1934, to S. Virgil and Myrtie (Ferguson) Nunn in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tom moved with his wife and son to Minnesota in 1958 to fly for Northwest Airlines. He was with NWA for 32 years, retiring in 1990.

In retirement, he continued to enjoy traveling of all kinds, spending time with his family, and church work.

Tom was a believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved sharing this faith with others. We are comforted that he is now with our Lord in Heaven.

Tom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine for many years. He recently moved and became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Excelsior.

Tom is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janice; their son, Thomas W. (Paula Battcher) Nunn of Victoria; two granddaughters, Jill (Aaron J.) Provancha of Prior Lake and Amy Nunn of Shakopee; two great-grandsons, Aaron and Levi Provancha of Prior Lake; and sister, Genevieve Wayne of Lakeside, Arizona.
