…..notice of passing…..retired Delta pilot Captain Frank Angelo Acquavella, age 71.  Captain Acquavella joined Delta Air Lines 09-05-1978 and was Dallas based.  He is survived by his wife Jennifer, and by his children and grandchildren.

Obituary : Frank Angelo Acquavella, age 71, U.S. Air Force veteran, a resident of Naperville, IL since 2004, formerly of Nashua, NH and Colleyville, TX, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at his home surrounded by his wife and children after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on November 11, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Beloved husband of Jennifer Acquavella (nee Szczech), whom he married in 2005, loving father of Jaime (Dan) Feder of La Jolla, CA, Thomas (Norma) Acquavella of San Diego, CA and Michael Anthony Acquavella of Naperville (and his fish, Jarvis and Anthony), adored grandfather of David, Evelyn, Mayer and Noa Feder; Michelle, Valery and Francesca Acquavella, devoted son of the late James and Rose Acquavella, son-in-law of Marty and Susan Szczech of Naperville, brother-in-law of Michael Szczech of Chicago and Elisabeth (Matthew) Porter of Naperville, fond uncle of Michelle, Rebecca, Lily, Grace and Olivia, and friend of many, including friends of 49 years Tommy and Sandy Natoli of Plainfield, IL.

 

Frank grew up in Brooklyn, attended Franklin K. Lane High School (Class of 1968) and received a BS in Mathematics from Queens College, City University of New York (Class of 1972). Frank went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, the first step in a lifelong dream to become a pilot. After receiving his honorable discharge, Frank joined Delta Airlines in 1978 and worked as a commercial pilot, retiring in 2004.

 

Frank was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and enjoyed good food and drink, cigars and traveling.

 

Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 24, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.  Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
