Notice of passing….retired Delta pilot Captain Bill Jensen, age 79.  Captain Jensen joined Delta Air Lines 11-06-1972 and was based Atlanta, then SLC/030 prior to retirement.  He is survived by his children and grandchildren.

IN THE CARE OF El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park

William L. Jensen, a Navy veteran fighter pilot and retired Delta Airlines Captain, passed away unexpectedly at home in Park City, Utah on July 4, 2022.

 

Obituary : Bill is survived by four of his children; Stacey (David), Eric (Theresa), Valerie and Kevin; his grandchildren; Brandon, Taylor, Ryan, Bradley, August, Darren, Alyssa, and Wyatt; his sister-in-law Carol, nephews Jeff and Scott (Evelyn) and their kids Tyler and Jayden. He was predeceased by his son Darren, his brother Robert, his sister Beverly and his parents Jim and Clara Jensen.

 

He was born in Denver, Colorado and moved as a child to Torrance, California where he grew up and then graduated from UCLA. Following graduation, he joined the Navy where he became a fighter pilot and served two tours in Vietnam aboard the Kittyhawk as an F-4 pilot. After over 200 missions and his honorable discharge, he was hired by Delta Airlines and flew with them for 30 years. After retirement, he joined the Salt Lake City Motorcycle Club and explored the United States. He was an avid reader, Fox News enthusiast, and studied the assassination of JFK for decades. He enjoyed playing the guitar and studying linguistics.

 

He loved to talk and made friends everywhere he went. He was loved by everyone and will be missed dearly by family, friends and all who knew him. “To fly west, my friend, is a flight we all must take for a final check.”

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 PM for visitation, 2:00 PM for chapel funeral and 3:00 PM for a military honors burial at El Camino Memorial- Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park.

 

Reception to follow at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley reception hall.
