Navy veteran, SO/RW/NWA/DL Capt. Daniel Louis Simpson

March 7, 1951 ~ July 30, 2022

 


Noted in the “In Memoriam Column” of the September 2022 issue of The Air Line Pilot magazine, the July passing of DL Capt. Daniel L. Simpson.  Captain Daniel Louis Simpson first joined Southern Airways 07-12-1979 and would have made the various mergers with Republic/AirWest/Northwest, retiring with Delta Air Lines.

Captain Simpson is survived by his wife Melinda and by his children and their families.  The family’s most recent address is listed in whitepages as 1604 Stokley Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138.

IN THE CARE OF   Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens -

Daniel Louis Simpson passed away on July 30, 2022. He was born March 7, 1951, in Okeene, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Melinda Ann Simpson, his son Travis (Anita) Simpson and daughter Danna (Taylor) Williams. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cole Simpson, Alli Simpson, Sutton Williams, and Abe Williams, his brothers Bill Simpson and Larry Simpson.

 

Dan is preceded in death by his parents William Harry Simpson and Evelyn Marie Simpson.

 

A service in honor of Dan will be held at Donelson Church of Christ on Saturday, August 6th at 11am. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5th from 4pm-7pm at Donelson Church of Christ and again from 10-11am on Saturday prior to the service.

 

Dan proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Navy. He then flew commercially and retired from Delta Airlines.

 

Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He devoted his life to his family, friends, and his Lord. Dan was an avid golfer. He loved to make pancakes for his grandchildren and watch them play sports. He will lovingly be remembered for his desire to spend every moment he could with his precious family and friends.
