Notice of passing ….Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain William “Bill” Francis Kalil, age 88.  Bill joined Delta Air Lines 07-03-1967 and retired in 1995, based 031/ATL.

Obituary : William “Bill” Francis Kalil, 88, passed away in West Palm Beach, FL on February 27, 2024. He was born on August 11, 1935 to the late Wardi and Laba Kalil in West Palm Beach, FL.

Bill was preceded in death by a brother, George Kalil.

 

He is survived by his sisters, Helen Grady, Rosanne Bush, Jeanne Kalil and brother, Tom Kalil.

 

Bill graduated from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA in 1953. He served in the Army from 1954-1957 (Korean War era) as an aircraft mechanic. Bill graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the top 10 of class, in 1958, with an Aircraft & Power Plant License.

 

Delta Air Lines hired Bill in 1959 as a mechanic and he moved to Atlanta, GA. He learned how to fly while being a mechanic, earned all his pilots ratings and gained experience. Delta hired Bill as a pilot in 1967.

 

Bill proved himself to be a great asset and well respected pilot for Delta. He flew, at least, 10 different aircraft models to countless cities and countries around the world. (He did this without any violations or mishaps.) Bill retired from Delta Air Lines in 1995.

 

Bill moved from Atlanta back to West Palm Beach, FL in 2022.

 

The Family will hold a Graveside Service at 12:00, on Friday March 8, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in West Palm Beach, FL.

 

Any memorial contributions can be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital.

    Captain William “Bill” Khali.. I met you while working with Captain Robert “Bob” Irvin… Bob was a great guy who had great friends such as you. I am very blessed and thankful to have met you. So glad you were able to spend your final days with your sister and family. May you Rest in Peace my dear friend; and one day, I will see you again when I fly up to Heaven to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God continue to bless your family for being right there by your side… I remember you mentioning your sister Helen… Thank you Helen for getting old “Mr. Independent” back to Florida. I am soo grateful.. Thank you. -~Bill, you will always be missed. Good Night my friend…Rest In Peace… Kim
