Keith Raber Hoobler lived a glorious 100 years on this earth and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 23, 2023 in Sun City Center, Florida. Keith was born on July 11, 1923 on the family farm in Gridley, Illinois to parents Harley and Mabel Hoobler. He was a graduate of Gridley High School and the University of Illinois. He had a love for flying all his life and took his first flying lesson at the ag of 17.

He followed that dream and was behind a cockpit of a plane until he retired in 1983 as

a Delta Airlines Senior Captain. He was proud of his time spent in the Naval Air Corp as a young man and he loved to talk about all the airplanes he flew. He met the love of his life Lois McNamee while in college and they married in 1945. They lived in Miami Springs, Florida and raised a family of 6 children there and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary shortly before she passed away in 2020.

He is survived by 6 children. David (Lola), Paul (Peggy), James (Nancy), Martha (Alan), Susan (Hans), and Daniel (Karen). 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren. The whole family is grateful to God for the incredible amount of time He gave us with Dad before He took him home and for all the memories we will keep in our hearts.

  1. I loved flying with Keith. One trip we laid over in DC. Keith had brought with him the instrument panel from Lindbergh's mailplane which had crashed on the Hoobler farm in the20's. He presented it to the Smithsonian. Great Guy, fine pilot.
