Larry Aucin

July 15, 1947 — November 2, 2024

Larry Aucin, 77, of Placitas, NM, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, after complications from a stroke. Larry was born on July 15, 1947, to Lawrence and Mary Aucin, in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Notre Dame in 1969, Larry served as a pilot in the USAF from 1970 to 1975 and in 1977 was hired by Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA, where he lived and worked for many years, retiring as a Captain in 2003.

Larry lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was an avid world traveler and reader. He loved history, churches, and museums. A great adventurer and outdoors person, Larry enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving, hiking, and mountain climbing. After moving to NM in 2005, he set his mind to climb all the Colorado Fourteeners, and he was able to summit most of them, either solo or with various hiking buddies.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Cline, and his brother Michael Aucin. Larry was a kind and generous person who had many longtime friends; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Larry's honor to your favorite charity.
