Larry Eugene Jones joined Delta Air Lines 11-02-1979 and was based 030/DFW.  He is survived by his wife Diane, and by his daughters and their families.

 

Captain Larry E. Jones, 75, of Shreveport, Louisiana went to live in his heavenly home with Jesus on December 31, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on February 7, 1949, in Columbus, OH to Dwight and Mary Lou Jones.

 

Larry graduated from Purdue University in 1971 with a degree in Professional Piloting Technology. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for 9 years before his 25-year career as a pilot with Delta Air Lines. Larry earned his private pilot license at age 16 and flying remained his passion throughout his life.

 

In 1968, Larry married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Salser) Jones, and together they raised two daughters, Shelley and Shannon, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

 

Larry was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for 48 years. He was a man of honor and integrity and took great pride in providing for his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved being involved in their activities and supported them every step of the way.

 

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Dwight Jones.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Diane Jones; his daughters Shelley (Jones) Carruth and her husband John, and Shannon (Jones) Ahern and her husband Bill; his grandchildren Jacob Carruth (wife Taylor), Madison (Carruth) Huckaby (husband Carson), Olivia Ahern, and Logan Ahern; great grandchildren Sutton Huckaby and John Carruth II; and his mother, Mary Lou Jones.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 am at Broadmoor Baptist Memorial Chapel with Dr. John Sullivan and Dr. Tom Harrison officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am in the Church Parlor.
