Bob Charles Tieszen of Argyle, Texas joined Delta Air
Lines 10-16-1972 and was Dallas based. Bob is survived by his wife Patti, and
by his children and their families.
Services for Bob will be held September 8 at the

Obituary
Bob Charles Tieszen of Argyle, Texas, passed away
on September 1, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1942, in Newton, Kansas, to
Charles and Dorothy Tieszen.
Bob grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton
High School, where he excelled in basketball, baseball, and track. He attended
the University of Kansas (KU), where he was active in Air Force Reserve Officer
Training Corps (ROTC), student government, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1964.
Bob met his future wife, Patricia (Patti) Behen,
at KU, and they were married on September 12, 1964, in Kansas City, Kansas.
They moved to Washington, D.C., in 1964, where Bob worked at the Pentagon for
the Undersecretary of the Air Force. In 1965, he accepted a commission into the
United States Air Force, and they moved to Chandler, Arizona. They were
stationed at Williams Air Force Base, where Bob flew the T-37 and T-38 aircraft
as both a student and instructor pilot on active duty until 1970, when they
moved to Dallas.
In 1972, Bob began flying for Delta Airlines while
continuing his service in the U.S. Air Force Reserve until 1978. He flew the
OA-37 Dragonfly, a light-attack and forward-air-control observation aircraft,
at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, and at Tinker Air Force
Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. During his career with Delta, Bob flew the
DC-9, B-727, L-1011, B-757, and B-767 aircraft on both domestic and
international routes. In November 2001, he retired after more than 29 years as
a B-767 Captain.
In 1978, Bob and Patti built their dream home
outside Sanger, Texas, where they raised their three children and resided until
2012, when they moved to Argyle. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed
hunting, fishing, shooting sports, skiing, and golf. He also had many other
interests and hobbies, including history, classic film, and coin collecting.
Bob had a relentless work ethic instilled in him from his youth working on the
Tieszen family wheat farm in Kansas. When he wasn’t flying, he spent much of his
time tending to their 68-acre property in Sanger and running cattle. Bob and
Patti shared a love of travel, and they spent their retirement years seeing the
world.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and
friend, whose good nature and humor endeared him to so many. His was truly a
life well-lived, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of nearly 62
years; his brother Dwayne (Mickey); his daughters Jennifer (Matt) of Flower
Mound, Texas, and Sheridan (David) of Key Largo, Florida; his son Jeff (Paige)
of Fort Worth, Texas; his six grandchildren, Zachary, Brenna, Noah, Drew,
Jessica, and Kyle; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his father, Charles Tieszen, and stepmother, Betty Tieszen; his mother, Dorothy
Linn, and stepfather, Clint Linn; and his brother, James Tieszen.
The family will receive friends for visitation on
Monday, September 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025
West University Drive, Denton, Texas, with a service on Tuesday, September 8,
at 10:00 A.M. at the DeBerry Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations
be made to Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides
educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled
military service members and first responders.
