Christine Judy of Granbury, 62, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, in Granbury.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Stonewater Church in Granbury.

Chris was born March, 12, 1951. She married Bud Judy, in Denton, Texas, on Dec. 28, 1994. They moved to Granbury in 1999. Chris was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nancy and Henry Ritmeester; sister, Beverly Ritmeester; and step-sons, Don Judy and Brice Judy.

Survivors: Husband, Bud Judy; brother, Cary Ritmeester; nephew, Sam Loy; step-daughter, Audra Hoy and husband, Michael, and granddaughter, Charlotte Hoy; and step-daughter, Elizabeth Judy and Rick Kaplan.

Notification of the passing of DL pilot Captain Robert J. ‘Rob’ Rehwaldt II, just a month away from his 57th birthday.  Born/raised in El Paso TX, after his time with the Air Force Captain Rehwaldt hired on with Delta Air Lines 06-09-1988 and was flying as a 757/767 Capt. based NYC.  You can read more of Lt. Obituary    Robert John Rehwaldt II 

With great sorrow, we announce the death of Robert John Rehwaldt II. He was born to Bob and Miriam Rehwaldt in El Paso, Texas. He began a long career in the sky at the Air Force Academy, graduating in 1978. He flew B-52 bombers and F-15s during his career as an Air Force officer. Later, he served as a beloved commander of the 116th ASOS before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also flew for Delta Air Lines for 25 years, eventually becoming an international captain. He is survived by his wife, Karen Gilden, former spouse Paula Rehwaldt, children Travis, Cassidy, Amy, Dena and Tori, as well as his parents and siblings. Someday, we will follow you down the Yellow Brick Road, Rob, and join you somewhere over the rainbow. With great sorrow, we announce the death of Robert John Rehwaldt II on June 21st, 2013, in Atlanta, Georgia. Rob was a man of many roles and responsibilities who could certainly be described as a Renaissance man. His travels in service to the military and Delta Air Lines allowed him to spread his joy and friendliness around the globe.  

He was born an eldest son to Bob and Miriam Rehwaldt in El Paso, Texas, on July 21st, 1956. The son of a southern mother and Wisconsin Air Force pilot, Rob learned to love grits, lima beans, and service to his country while traversing the globe from as far as Washington D.C. to Okinawa, Japan. Rob had the pleasure of teasing and guiding his siblings Eric, Frank, Dave, Laura, Dan, and Chris, a role he treasured and continued his entire life, making the time to attend milestones in each of their lives and to offer comfort during struggles.  

He discovered his lifelong love of running at Mascoutah High School through participation in track and cross-country. Upon high school graduation in 1974, he attended the United States Air Force Academy as an honored member of the Roadrunners and "Bad Company." Here, he first pursued his life's passion: flying. He graduated in 1978 and married Paula Field in 1980, and they moved to Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. They started their family, which eventually grew to three children, Travis, Cassidy and Amy. Rob began his career in the sky flying B-52 bombers for the 337th Bomb Squadron. Next, Rob flew F-15s with the 27th Fighter Squadron of the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. After completion of active duty service in the Air Force, Rob continued to serve his country in the Air National Guard. He served as Fighter Duty Officer in the 111th ASOC. For many years, he was the beloved leader and commander of the 116th ASOS. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006. 

Following his time spent in the Air Force, Rob and Paula moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he began his twenty-five year career as a commercial pilot for Delta Air Lines. He eventually became an international captain and particularly enjoyed flights to Africa and Asia. Rob truly loved his time spent in the sky.  

Rob moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 1989 and finally found his home. In 2004, he married Karen Gilden, and three years later, twins Tori and Dena arrived. He raised his five children in a house that he loved and lived in for twenty years while looking across a pine-filled valley to the Cascade Mountains. Long runs across the valley led to the completion of several marathons.  

Rob spent over half of his life in the role of father, a role in which he particularly excelled. Years of "wee-flips," soccer games, golf lessons, long-winded lectures, loud morning renditions of the "school days" song, late night viewings of the Wizard of Oz, mini-van drives across Washington with the windows down and classic rock blaring, boogie boarding on the Pacific Coast until we were numb with cold, trips to the barber for trims and treats, and nights playing Risk and Acquire – all combined to form three adult children who loved their friend and father very much and two little girls who will miss their Papa terribly.  

Although he was taken too soon, we say goodbye to Rob knowing his life was full and spent making the world a better place. His kind words, sense of humor, and friendly nature touched many lives across the globe, especially the lives of his five children and family.  

Someday, we will follow you down the Yellow Brick Road, Rob, and join you somewhere over the rainbow. 

A viewing will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on July 1st from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on July 2nd at 10:00 am and at Willamette National Cemetery at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rob's name to the Minuteman Emergency Assistance Fund.

Notification of the passing of retired Pan Am/DL pilot Captain Donald Charles Binard, age 76 years and nearing his 77th birthday.  I believe that Captain Binard hired on with Pan American 10-02-1967.  He retired with Delta Air Lines at the mandatory age 60 in 1996, based 030/QNY as noted in the August 1996 issue of DeltaDigest.

Donald Charles Binard, age 76 of Saint Johns, FL passed away June 26 after a six month battle with cancer.  Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha “Cat” Catherine, son Stephen (Jodi), and granddaughters Samantha & Olivia (all of Saint Johns, FL), as well as sisters Sharon(Howard) & Deborah and brother Robert all of Colorado.  Don was predeceased by his mother Catherine, father Charles, and sister Diane.  Don earned an Air Medal while serving as a Naval Aviator and retired as a Delta Air Lines Captain.  Memorial services are to be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Word was received today with the passing of Bertha Mae Fey, wife of retired  pilot PNA/WAL Captain Virgil C. Fey.  Bertha passed away in the early hours of June 26th after a brief illness.  Captain and Mrs. Fey were to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on August 16th which also happens to be Captain Fey’s 84th birthday.  Bertha was 82 years of age at the time of her passing.

Life Story:

Bertha Mae Fey, 82, of Sequim passed away on June 26, 2013. Born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 12, 1930, her family moved to Anchorage, AK in 1946 and she graduated from Anchorage High School in 1949. She met and married her husband, Virgil Fey, in Anchorage at age 19 and they were married August 16, 1950. The Fey's moved to Bellevue, WA in 1971 where they raised their two children, Julie and Gerald Fey. They resided in Bellevue for many years before moving to Sequim in 1999.  

Bertha Mae was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. Over the years, Virgil and Bertha Mae enjoyed flying, boating, RV'ing, touring in classic cars along with numerous Shriner events. Bertha Mae was the 1st Lady at Queen City Yacht Club in 1983 and was active in boating for many years. 

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Fey, daughter Julie Fey-Emard, son Gerald Fey and his wife Melissa Fey and 6 grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Tori, Jordan, Lilly and Allison. She was the foundation of our family and will be dearly missed.  

Bertha Mae was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Dovie Killen.

Roscoe Morton, pilot, beloved EAA announcer dies

Roscoe Morton, long the lead voice of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s summer celebrations, whose life story in aviation earned him honors as the “essence of EAA,” has died. He was 81.

An Air Force veteran, flight instructor, aerobatic team captain, and airline pilot who once worked as a train locomotive fireman to pay for flight lessons, Morton once explained that he loved his work as chief announcer at EAA AirVenture, and interviewing aviation performers and personalities, because the dialogs helped audiences appreciate what aviators do.

Appearing on AOPA Live in 2012, Morton recalled how his aviation announcing role evolved over 50 years, moved forward by requests from well-known performers for him to call their shows. He also recounted how AirVenture has grown from “a small fly-in to the world’s largest aviation event” that he would not miss “for anything.” Morton was also the announcer chairman at Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, Fla., a member of its board of directors, and served as announcer at many other aviation events in the U.S. and abroad.

In 2009, Morton’s fond presence on the general aviation scene earned him the EAA President's Award, by which the organization seeks to honor “members whose participation and contributions represent the essence of EAA.”

“Roscoe Morton has been the voice of EAA and the public address system for decades,” said EAA Founder Paul Poberezny, presenting the award. “He not only does a great job in organizing our airshow announcers and activities, but he has done so for a long time.”

EAA’s tribute noted that Morton “began his aviation career by soloing—illegally—at age 15 in 1947,” later served with the Air Force in the Korean Conflict, became an airline pilot, retiring from Southern Airways (now Delta Air Lines) as a Boeing 747 captain. He captained the U.S. Aerobatic Team three times in world competition, and also wrote an aerobatics book of rules.

According to an obituary posted by a funeral home in Lake Wales, Fla., Morton was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Elk Falls, Kan., where a funeral and interment were to take place.

Morton is survived by his wife Virginia; a son, Roscoe J. and wife, Lisa Morton of Commerce, Mich.; a sister, Suzanne M. Wyatt of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, the obituary said.

Roscoe D. Morton

(December 10, 1931 - June 15, 2013) 

Roscoe D. Morton of Frostproof passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence.

He was born December 10, 1931 in Elk Falls, KS to the late Raymond G. & Grace E. Morton. Roscoe began his aviation career by soloing in 1947 at the age 15. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Flight instructing, agricultural and executive flying led to his airline career with Southern Airways in 1959, presently known as Delta Airlines. A former chief pilot and check airman, Roscoe retired as a Boeing 747 International Captain. He was the Chairman of the Announcers, and has been for numerous years at the Experimental Aircraft Association Airventure at Rockford and Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was also Chairman of the Announcers at Sun’N’Fun in Lakeland and was a member of the Board of Directors at Sun’N’Fun. Roscoe received many awards over the years and announced at many events in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Virginia “Jinny” Morton; son, Roscoe J. and wife, Lisa Morton of Commerce, MI; sister, Suzanne M. Wyatt of Fort Worth, TX; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Madison and Will.

Funeral service was held 1:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Elk Falls Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Elk Falls Cemetery under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home.
