Norman Arthur Rice "NA", 69, of Bemus Point, New York and St. Pete Beach, Florida, passed away in Bemus Point on Saturday, February 27, 2016 with his brother, Jack by his side.

Norm was born in Rochester, NY, February 15, 1947, youngest son of the late Winston C. and Anna B. Rice, long-time residents of Bemus Point.  He was a graduate of Bemus Point Central High School (1969) and Colgate University (1973).

His career covered flying C130's in the USAF and USAF Reserves, B-727s for Braniff International and Boeing 747's for Northwest Airlines.  His life centered around flying and spending time with his family and many friends.  Norm was an avid water sportsman.  Much of his life's activities focused near waterways: Mound, Minnesota, St. Pete Beach, Florida, and Bemus Point, New York.  His loves included international travel, Harleys, RVs, ATVs, boating, golf, tennis, racquet ball, along with all the social interactions associated with these activities.

Norm was an active member of the Ellery VFW, Fluvanna War Vets, Jamestown, NY and St. Pete Beach area American Legions, among other clubs.  The See-Zurh House, Italian Fisherman, Ye Hare 'n Hounds, Steener's Pub, and Lenhart Hotel were his favorite 'haunts' in Bemus Point where he would hang with friends.  His St. Pete Beach favorite 'haunts' are too numerous to list.  Norm opened his homes in Bemus Point, NY and St. Pete Beach, FL to many people over the years.  Many organizations and people benefitted from his generosity.

Norm is survived by two brothers, Don (Sandy) of San Jose, CA and Jack (Kathy) of Colorado Springs, CO.  He had three nephews, David of San Francisco, CA, Bill of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Chris of Golden, CO and one niece, Danielle of Louisville, CO.

Marthe Ballance Wolff, 40, passed away peacefully at her home in Buckhead, March 4, 2016, surrounded by family and friends following a courageous five year battle with ALS. Born at Piedmont Hospital July 20, 1975, Marthe grew up in Atlanta, where she attended The Heiskell School, The Westminster Schools and graduated from Pace Academy. Marthe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Stetson University where she was a scholarship cadet in the ROTC program. She was selected to attend paratrooper training and graduated from the US Army Airborne School. She was also a member of the Stetson Varsity Rowing Team, where she was selected to row in the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Marthe was a flight attendant with United Airlines until 2001. She then earned her Masters Degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University. She ultimately found her true passion in nursing and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She has worked as a neurological ICU nurse at the University of Kansas Medical Center and Emory University Hospital. Marthe was an adventurous traveler and enjoyed a variety of sports throughout her life including running, rowing, snow skiing, and waterskiing. As a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed giving generously of her time and talents. She was active in the choir, youth program and Presbyterian Women. She served as Moderator of Presbyterian Women in 2014-2015 and has been awarded with the Life Membership Award for 2015-2016. Marthe's life was devoted to others, both professionally and personally. Despite the challenges she faced with her diagnosis she never lost her positive attitude and joyful spirit. She remained a source of strength and inspiration to everyone she touched. She is survived by her husband Mark, son August, parents Harry Jr. and Carol Ballance, sisters Katie Ballance Muir (James), Laura Ballance May (Peter), brother Harry Ballance, III, grandmother Edwardine Petersen, uncle Don Petersen, aunt Patricia Ballance Mandes, father and mother-in-law Dan and Kathy Wolff, sister-in-law Danielle Wolff, nephews, Kale Moore, John Muir, Simon May, and niece Dalia May. She is also survived by friends who became family as their lives were enriched by the joy she brought to all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 4300 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA. 30327. Flowers may be sent to Northwest Presbyterian Church, at the address above. Memorial gifts may be made to the Marthe Wolff Memorial Fund at Northwest Presbyterian Church.

Silas C. Peterson 1929–2016 Northfield—Silas Carlyle Peterson Jr., age 86, of Northfield was born December 10, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio to Silas and Dorothy (Barnhart) Peterson. He graduated from Tabor Academy High School in Marion, Massachusetts in 1947 and received his BA degree in Psychology from the University of New Mexico in 1951. Cy entered the United States Air Force on September 20, 1951 and served until receiving his honorable discharge on August 31, 1962, Cy was united in marriage to Katharine Taylor on June 8, 1962. The couple made their home in Northfield. Cy worked as a commercial pilot for Northwest Airlines. Silas passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Northfield Hospital Long Term Care. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Katharine Peterson of Northfield; his daughter Natalie Hale of Tecumseh, OK; a granddaughter Renee Hale; grandson Levi Kripner; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Pete, Silas III and his parents. A Celebration of Cy's life will be held at a later date. born on January 30, 1925 and passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016.

Iris was a resident of West Branch, Michigan at the time of her passing. Visitation will be at the Buresh Funeral Home in Prescott, Michigan on Sunday February 28th 2-8 PM.  Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Douglas Kennedy at Judson Baptist Church of Prescott on Monday February 29th at 11 am. Sztanyo, Iris Ann (Forshee), West Branch, Michigan. Iris Ann Sztanyo passed peacefully and quietly from this earthbound life into life anew on February 26th, 2016 at 3:26 am. Born in Twining, Michigan on January 30, 1925 Iris was the second child and only daughter to Clare and Alpha Forshee.
Her death was preceded by her beloved husband of 72 years, 5 months earlier. In Iris’ home-going she can now turn the tables on Stan by using one of his often spoken refrains, “Honey, I’m home!” She is survived by her three children; Richard (Sheila) Sztanyo of Pelham, AL; Marcia (Frank) Duncan of Frankfort, IL; and Mark (Barbara) Sztanyo of Florence, KY. She leaves eight grandchildren: Jimmy, Tracy, Mike, Brian, Shannon, Eric, Darcy, and Kelly. Iris loved her fifteen great-grandchildren: Laura, Jake, David, Marisa, Joseph, Hallie, Braxton, Emil, Elaina, Sawyer, Brantley, Corin, Jackson, Bailey, and Rafe.
At age eighteen, Iris climbed on a train and traveled from her home in Michigan to Kissimmee, FL to be with her boyfriend before he headed off to war. While there, she asked her parents for permission and received approval to marry Stan. As a 50+ year member of Judson Baptist Church of Prescott, Iris lived a life of faith, family, cooking, golf and gardening.

Sztanyo, Antonium Emil “Stan”, West Branch, Michigan. Antonium Emil “Stan” Sztanyo passed peacefully and quietly from this earthbound life into life anew on September 24th, 2015 at 3:11 am. Born in Turner, Michigan on October the 7th, 1921, Emil was the 5th child and 3rd son of Anton and Marie (Schwerhardt) Sztanyo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Iris (Forshee) Sztanyo, and by his three children; Richard (Sheila) Wayne Sztanyo of Pelham, AL; Marcia (Frank) Lee Duncan of Frankfort, IL; and Mark (Barbara) Jeffrey Sztanyo of Florence, KY. He leaves eight grandchildren: Jimmy, Tracy, Mike, Brian, Shannon, Eric, Darcy, and Kelly. Emil loved being surrounded by his fourteen great-grandkids: Laura, Jake, David, Marisa, Joseph, Hallie, Braxton, Emil, Elaina, Sawyer, Brantley, Corin, Jackson, and Bailey, and looked forward to the arrival of another great-grandson soon. Emil served proudly and heroically in WWII as a prestigious Nightfighter pilot with the famed 415th Nightfighter squadron. He separated from the Army Air Corps as a Captain and became a community pillar in Prescott, MI, serving for 31 years as a funeral director and owner at C L Forshee and Sons funeral homes. He also helped organize the consolidated school district of Whittemore-Prescott Schools and served on the school board for 25 years and as president for 21 years. As a 50+ year member of Judson Baptist Church of Prescott, Emil lived a life of faith, family, golf and gardening. Obituary.............................JOSEPH VICTOR 'VIC' MANUSSIER

Joseph "Vic" Manussier, of Auburn, Alabama was born in Washington, Iowa on February 14, 1933 and passed away at EAMC on February 28, 2016. He was 83 years old. Vic graduated from Central College in Pella, IA where he enjoyed playing collegiate basketball. He went on to join the Marine Corps where he was a Naval Aviator and instructor. His experience in aviation led to his 34 year career as a pilot for Northwest Airlines. After his retirement to Auburn, he became deeply passionate about Auburn sports. His presence at various sporting events and participation in athletic scholarships programs have left an impact on the community that he so loved. He is survived by his wife Carol Ver Steeg Manussier; daughter, Gae Green (John Domzalski), and son, Joseph Manussier III (Christie); granddaughter, Madison Green. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Phil and MC Chansler, 245 Cary Drive Auburn, Alabama. It is with great sadness that I report the death of Vic Manussier.  I just received a phone call from his daughter, Gae Green, and she informed me that Vic passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last Sunday night, Feb 28th.  I told Gae I would take care of notifying the RNPA folks.
