George Lee Jones, age 80, of Lilburn, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by family on Friday, May 25, 2018. George was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Luther Jones and mother, Hazel Elliott Jones. George is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann Gentry Jones, children and their spouses, Leeann Jones Jannett and Keith Richard Jannett, George Luther Jones and Kelley Ryder Jones, Timothy Elliott Jones and Jennifer Langley Jones, Catherine Jones Singleton and Justin Brett Singleton; grandchildren, Madison Rose Jannett, Kylee Grace Jannett, Noah Matthew Jannett, Emily Ann Jones, and Lainey Hazel Jones.

 

George was born and raised in Canton, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Canton High School, and after graduation, he worked at the local papermill while putting himself through flight school. George followed his passion and became a pilot for Delta Air Lines and traveled the world as an international captain for 33 years. After retirement at 60, George turned his love of fishing into a 20 year career in the fishing department at Bass Pro Shops.

 

George was one of the founding members of Stone Mountain Community Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia which later became Cornerstone Bible Church in Lilburn. He followed God’s calling for spreading the gospel through Bible translation to the unreached people groups of the Philippines. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and coaching and mentoring through youth athletics.

 

The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of George Lee Jones will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Bible Church, 869 Cole Dr, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel and Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to JAARS, Waxhaw, NC, www.JAARS.org .

On May 25, 2018, Lee James Davis of Peachtree City, GA, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home. Lee was a man of deep faith and was involved in local and international ministries for many years. Lee was born on January 30, 1951, in Pittsburgh, PA, and grew up in Savannah, GA, attending Savannah Country Day School and Armstrong State University. Lee was a pilot with Delta Air Lines for 27 years, retiring in 2004. Lee is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Lucie McAlpine Davis, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and his brother, Lamar W. (Sarah) Davis, Jr., of Savannah. Lee was predeceased by his twin brother, Danny, who died at 5 weeks old, and his parents, Lamar W. Davis, Sr., and Mary Lois Clark Davis.

A graveside interment will be held on Thursday, May 31st, at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah at 12pm.

Obituary................Robert Barnard "Bob" McEachran, age 79, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson's on Saturday May 26, 2018. Bob was born March 17, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Dr. Gordon and Elsie McEachran.

 

Bob graduated from West High in 1957 and attended the University of Minnesota. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1961 and served in Vietnam from 1964-1965 as a helicopter pilot with HMM365, receiving 15 air medals. Bob joined Pan Am in 1967 and retired from Delta Airlines as a Captain.

 

Bob enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, antique cars, hot rods and ranching on his property in Montana.

 

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, ready smile and his ability to fix anything.

 

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kathleen Flynn McEachran; loving children, Molly Burns (William) and Michele Zeitz (Doug Heuer); brother, Dr. James McEachran DDS and cherished grandson, Gordon Thomas Zeitz.

 

A Visitation will be held from 4:30 PM until the time of Service at 5:30 PM on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232. Bob will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.

There is no obituary or independent confirmation of Gordon's passing. The remarks below were drafted by Hart Kelley who received the sad news directly from Gordon's family. If more information surfaces it will be forwarded to you.

 

Gordon was born in Ft. Myers, Florida in 1937.  His family purchased The Mangoes, Henry Ford’s estate in 1945 and that is where Gordon grew up and attended local schools.  He attended University of Florida in Gainesville.  After graduation he entered the US Air Force flight training and flew the C-130 during the Viet Nam War.

Leaving the Air Force he applied to and was hired by National Airlines in 1965.  National merged with Pan Am in 1980 and Gordon transferred to Delta Airlines in 1991 following an asset purchase, from which he retired in 1997.

He is survived by three brothers, Malcolm, Tito and Sandy Biggar.

There are no services planned at the present time.  Gordon's wishes were to be cremated and an at sea ceremony held later.
