Obituary : Joseph A. Lundy of Coral Springs, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the age of 80.

He was born in Manhattan, New York to Frank P. Lundy and Mildred (Loudis) Lundy. Joseph attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York as a member of the first graduating class in 1959. Later, he attended Villanova University in Pennsylvania where he earned his BA in Mechanical Engineering, class of 1964. Joseph served six years in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida where he proudly served his country as a Lieutenant and Naval Aviator. After his honorable discharge, Joseph began his career as a pilot with Delta Airlines and flew for 32 years where he retired as Captain.

 

Joseph is survived by his wife, Ann Lundy of 54 years, his two children, Frank Lundy of Coral Springs, FL, daughter, Suzanne (Lundy) Roth and son-in-law Gary Roth of Orlando, FL, four grandchildren, Megan, Kate, Garrett and Riley, and brother Anthony Lundy and sister-in-law Rose Marie Lundy of Bayside, NY. Joe will be incredibly missed by his family and friends.

 

Visitation for Joseph will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1 North State Road 7, Margate, FL 33063, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Obituary : Vernon ‘Vern’ Elmer Jones, 83, longtime Westport resident and former commercial airline pilot, died May 5, 2022 at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, WA.

Vern was born on January 1, 1939 to Ralph Irwin and Irene Elizabeth (Reisbick) Jones in Portland, OR. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1956. He then went to University of Portland and graduated in 1961 with his Bachelor’s in Engineering. It was also during this time that he married Nancy Marie O’Donnell on June 5, 1960 in Portland.

He joined the Air Force following graduation and they moved to Selma, Alabama for his pilot training and after 13 months he was stationed at McCord AFB in Tacoma, WA for the next 5 years. They then moved to Vancouver, WA for a year and then in 1969, they moved to Westport, WA where they have lived since.

Following his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, Vern went to work flying for West Coast Airlines in 1965 flying a DC-9. They later became Hughes Airlines, then Republic Airlines and then Northwest Airlines and eventually Delta Airlines. He retired on January 1, 1995, having been Captain of a 757.

Vern was a member of the Oaksridge Men’s Golf Club, Mid Washington Senior Golf Assoc., Pacific Flyway Decoy Assoc., Ward Museum of Wildlife Art, Columbia Flyway Wildlife Assoc and HAW/RARE Retired Airline Employees Assoc.

He enjoyed woodcarving, skiing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. His enjoyment was spending time with his family and sharing his hobbies with his sons and grandchildren.

Vern is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Jones of Westport, WA; two sons: Tom (Lana) Jones of Ketchikan, Alaska and Jerry (Roberta) Jones of Westport, WA; a brother Harvey Jones of Portland, OR; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service for Vern on Monday May 16th at Noon in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s chapel, followed by a reception in Fern Hill’s Dorothy Mann Reception Hall. Entombment with Military Honors will follow the reception at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.

The family would like donations to be made to: South Beach Regional Fire Authority, In memory of Vern Jones, P.O. Box 1195, Westport, WA 98595. They would also like to thank Summit Pacific Medical for all the kind care Vern received while there.

Arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.

Obituary : Daniel Joseph Sullivan, Jr. 79 years of age, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2022. He was born on August 26, 1942, and was the first of eight children to Daniel and Rita Sullivan of Bronx, New York. His siblings are John, Mary Sue, Tom, Jim, Ray, Jerry and Vinny.

 

Mr. Sullivan served his time honorably in the US Marine Corps from June 1964 to May 1970 as a Captain. Upon completion of his military obligation as a fighter pilot, he was hired by Delta Airlines and happily enjoyed a wonderful career as a pilot, in which he took great pride and retired at the age of 60. He enjoyed motorcycles and riding his Harley.

 

He attended Holy Rosary Grammar School, Regis High School and was a graduate of Fordham University in 1964 and married Jacquelyn Hendrickson the same year on July 25th. He was the proud father of Daniel Robert Sullivan and Kathleen Sullivan Pharr.

 

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacquelyn Sullivan; his son, Daniel ”Danny” Sullivan, Danny’s daughters, Stacie Sullivan Smith, Kayleigh Sullivan, Lauren Sullivan and Joy Sullivan; his daughter, Kathleen Sullivan Pharr (Glenn) and their sons, Steve and Justin Pharr.

 

It is with deepest regret that we have lost such a warm, loving and wonderful soul. He will be remembered in our hearts and prayers forever.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00PM with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel. Private burial will be held at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Obituary :  - JOHN FREDERICK MARTIN BAUER passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Veterans Home at Menlo Park, in Edison. He was 78 years old.

 

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he resided in Pemberton Borough, New Jersey for 42 years before moving with his wife to a senior living community in Hamilton in 2019 and then to Edison in 2021.

 

Prior to retiring, he was a Pilot for U.S. Air Force for 30 years and was also a Pilot for Delta Airlines.

 

John was a Major in the United States Air Force with a twenty-year tenure, prior to his retirement in 1987. He served our Country honorably in tours through Vietnam, Lebanon and Grenada. John was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal USAF Commendation, National Defense Medal and Armed Force Expeditionary Medal.

 

He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra, in February 2022, and his parents, Herman and Claire (née Fellhauer).

 

Surviving are his son, John Scott and daughter-in-law, Haley Reimbold, and his beloved 2-year-old grandchild, Nova June.

EAL/MidwestExpress/DAL pilot & flight instructor Fredrick "Fred" Arthur Gimson, son of deceased DL Capt. Keith L. Gimson.  (Keith Gimson, DOB 11-25-1921, hire date 10-24-1949 based ATL, died 08-19-1995)

 

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Frederick "Fred" Arthur Gimson, beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away at home on May 1st, 2022, surrounded by family after a year-long struggle with cancer. Fred lived 75 full years of life, most recently with his wife, Diane Hoey, in Marietta.

 

Fred was born November 6, 1946 in Bellefontaine, OH where his father, Keith Gimson, ran a small airport after the war. In 1950, the Gimsons' moved to Atlanta, where Keith spent a career as a Delta pilot. Following in his father's footsteps, Fred pursued flying from an early age.

 

He met his first wife, Victoria "Vicki" Lynn Gimson, at Avondale High School (Class of 1964) where they were both in the band. They both attended Georgia State University where Fred enjoyed his time in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After Fred and Vicki married in 1969, Fred served in the US Army, stationed in Ulm, Germany from 1969-1971.

 

Fred truly loved his job as an airline pilot. All those who got to work with him benefitted from his thorough preparation, patience, encouragement, deep knowledge and love of flying. His first professional flying job was with Eastern Airlines based in Atlanta. In 1990, the Gimsons' relocated to Milwaukee, WI to fly for Midwest Express Airlines. Retiring at 60 his journey as a pilot came full circle, working as a flight instructor for Delta Airlines. So much did he enjoy this work, that he continued instructing long after his cancer diagnosis. He reluctantly formally retired a week prior to passing.

 

As a kind, funny and loving person, Fred made many great friends. His favorite hobby was sailing, enjoying piloting his sailboat as much as his plane, or perhaps more since it was often accompanied with friends and family. Most recently, Fred and Diane enjoyed trips to St. Simon's Island, Sanibel Island, and hanging out by the pool.

 

Fred lovingly cared for and supported his family. He is predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Vicki; and parents Florence and Keith Gimson. He is survived by his wife Diane Hoey; and her son, David. He is cherished by his three daughters, Erica Lynn Gimson and her husband Sean of Raleigh, NC, Mary Gimson Reabe and her husband Damon of Ripon, WI, and Elizabeth Gimson Edsell and her husband Mark of Winooski, VT. He is also lovingly remembered as "G-Daddy' by grandchildren, Eulaila, Caroline, Max, Ida, and Leah. Also grieving are his brother, Jack at Lake Oconee, and his family; and Barbara Miller of Grayson and her family.

 

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send donations to his alma mater, Georgia State University,GSU Foundation, P.O. Box 2668, Atlanta, GA 30301-2668. The family welcomes visitors to celebrate his life with them on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 between 4-7 PM at The Venue, 855 Church Street, Marietta, GA 30060. All are welcome.
