WAL Capt. Gordon F. Shields Jr.
March 16, 1918 ~ February 11, 2014
Word has been received with the passing of Delta Golden Wings
member WAL retired pilot Captain Gordon F. ‘Gordy’ Shields Jr. Born/raised I
believe in the Great Falls, Montana area, Captain Shields was just one month shy
of his 96th birthday. Captain Shields joined Western Airlines 12-18-1945 and
was based LAX for the majority of his career. Captain Shields retired
03-16-1978 as Regional Manager-Flight for Western, based Los Angeles. A full
obituary is forthcoming but for now family would like to get the word out that a
memorial celebration of his life and luncheon will be held February 22nd
in Mission Viejo, California. For more information please contact the family at

His passing will be commemorated at a Luncheon Celebration of his life
this Saturday, February 22 in Mission Viejo, California. For information
