Notification with the passing of Delta pilot Captain Mark Edward Sturgill, age 58.  Captain Sturgill joined Delta Air Lines 05-06-1999.  He is survived by his wife Amy.  Services for Captain Sturgill will be held July 5th and 6th in Bristol, Virginia.

Obituary........................Mark Edward Sturgill, of Peachtree City, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the age of 58. He was born in Bristol, Va., to Byron and Barbara Sturgill. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He flew for Delta Airlines as an Airline Captain. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. Mark was a deeply devoted husband, father and son. He loved his years as a Delta pilot and was honored to fly for the company. Mark enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family at their cabin. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Amy R. Sturgill; parents, Byron and Barbara Sturgill of Piney Flats, Tenn.; daughters, Jenna (Robert) Hyatt of Vacaville, Calif., and Ellen (Christopher) Cummings of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Grant Sturgill of Peachtree City; granddaughters, Katherine and Claire Hyatt of Vacaville, Calif.; sister, Kim (Jeff) Ardell of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Phillip (Lisa) Sturgill of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Patrick (Robin) Sturgill of Johnson City, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. A reception with the family will follow the service. Additionally, the family will hold a funeral service on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. They will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Susong Cemetery in Bristol.
