Word has reached our group with news of the passing of former DL stewardess Kathy Fisher, wife of retired Delta Air Lines pilot and Delta Golden Wings member Capt. Kenneth S. Fisher.

 … Sad news from retired DFW Captain Ken Fisher, whose wife of 62 years recently passed away.

Kathleen (Brookman) Fisher, former Delta Air Lines Stewardess, wife of retired Captain Ken Fisher, passed away on June 24, 2022.

Kathy was born & raised in the St. Louis area and graduated from Brentwood High School. Her childhood dream was to see a foreign country. She attended the University of Missouri for 2 years and was in the Delta Gamma sorority. When she was old enough, she became a Stewardess (that’s what they were called at that time) with Delta Air Lines. She was based in Memphis and New Orleans. She flew on both Domestic and South American routes and finally got to see a foreign country.

In 1960, she married Delta First Officer Ken Fisher. At that time, Delta and most other domestic airlines required Stewardesses to be single ladies and when they married, they had to end their flying careers. So then, Kathy went to work in an American Airlines reservation center in Memphis. In 1962 Delta closed the Memphis Pilot base and they were transferred to Dallas. Both sons were born and grew up in Irving, Texas. Kathy was brilliant lady and enjoyed 3 days on the Jeopardy quiz show in 1966 when Art Fleming was the host.

While living in Irving, Kathy set up a tradition with some of her lady friends to make an annual international trip and she got to see many more places. They visited numerous countries in Europe, the South Pacific and their last 3 trips visited countries in southern Africa doing photo safaris. Kathy and Ken also made several family trips during those years in Irving.

In 1994, after Ken’s retirement and with both sons out of college, they moved to Hot Springs Village, a retirement community in Arkansas and enjoyed the rest of her life there making friends and enjoying bridge.

She is survived by her husband Ken and two sons, Eric of Hot Springs AR, Lee of Ft. Worth and 3 Grandsons.
