Notice of passing….. Delta Air Lines Captain Scott Denton Critzer, age 52, of Smyrna, Georgia.  Captain Critzer joined Delta Air Lines 09-25-1997.  He is survived by his wife Christina along with his mother Mary Anne and one sibling.

Obituary :     Scott Denton Critzer, 52, of Smyrna, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly due to a cardiac event on Saturday October 1, 2022. Scott was born February 18, 1970 in Bethesda, Maryland. Scott is the son of Mary Anne Critzer and the late Galley Boaz Critzer Sr.

 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Christina Elaine Critzer; mother, Mary Anne Critzer; brother Galley B. Critzer Jr.; sister-in-law, Lorena Critzer; aunt, Evelyn Wright; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mike and Carole Fariss; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis and Michelle Early; three nieces; one nephew; one great niece; and two dogs.

 

Scott grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia spending much of his time on the family farm and riding horses. He graduated from Courtland High School in 1988. He went on to graduate from Florida Institute of Technology in 1992 where he pursued his passion of flying airplanes. He then started his career as a professional pilot working for several airlines. The last 25 years he flew for Delta Airlines where he earned the position of Captain on the 757 and 767ER.

 

Scott and Christina loved traveling and spending time together with their dogs, Delta and Piper, at their cabin in the mountains of Georgia. He lived life to the fullest and was skilled in many hobbies. He enjoyed scuba diving, live music, was an excellent marksman, and participated in a variety of shooting competitions. Scott touched many lives and is deeply loved by family and countless friends with whom he always made time to visit and share a laugh.

 

A celebration of life will be held in Atlanta as well as a service in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shepherd's Men, an organization Scott supported, advocating for veterans affected by the hidden injuries of war.
