___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Bob Ennis Obituary  :

Retired Delta Airline Pilot, John Robert "Kluttz" Ennis (Bob), Age 68, of Parker, Colorado, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the arms of his loving wife.

Born at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida on January 26, 1955, Bob was preceded in death by his parents John and Jeanine Kluttz.

Bob graduated from the Air Academy High School and continued to the Air Force Academy where he proudly graduated with the class of 79 with a BS in Civil Engineering. The Academy was where his love of flying began so after graduating, he became a pilot for the Air Force flying the KC135 and KC10.

In 1987, Bob was hired as a pilot for Delta Airlines (his dream job). He flew various Delta airplanes as a Captain including the 757 and 767 for 33 years, retiring in 2020. During his Delta career, he continued to work for the Air Force reserves and retired after 35 years as a Lt. Colonel. Bob loved life and never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality.

Bob is survived by his spouse of 42 years, Laura; his 2 wonderful sons, Robert Zachary (wife Amber), Tyler John (girlfriend, Freddy); grandchildren Levi, Barrett (Freddys children, Kingsley, Klayton and Kliason). His brother Terry (girlfriend Melissa), niece Kirby, uncle Phil, Uncle Don and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, August 23, 2023, at the Air Force Academy Community Center Chapel (5134 Cathedral Dr. Air Force Academy, CO 80840). Buriel will follow at the Air Force Academy Cemetery with full military honors. Reception to follow at 3:00 PM at the Air Force Academy Eisenhower Golf Course. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ponderosa Valley Funeral Home and the Mortuary office at the Air Force Academy.

  1. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. We were roommates in Atlanta for several years. We instructed on the B767 program. We shared a condo, Bob kept us constantly entertained and was a great friend and coworker.
