___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

William Brintnall Obituary  :

William E. Brintnall, 84, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 26 after a brief illness.

Bill, or Bud, or Buddy depending on when you met him, was born in Hickory, NC and spent his childhood in the small-town of Bryson City, NC making sure he took advantage of every sports program offered by Swain High School and spending his "downtime" working at the family business.

He left high school to study aeronautical engineering at N.C. State University, but within a couple of years he was lured away by the USAF.

Although Bill had dreams of flying fighter jets, his 6'2" large boned frame assigned him to the cockpit of the B-52, where he spent the Cuban Missile Crisis in the air over Minot ND and the North Pole.

After the tense days of scrambling jets Bill was happy to finally settle down in Atlanta, Ga. and fly the calmer skies for Delta Airlines the rest of his career.

Post retirement Bill decided to pilot a golf cart as much as possible and developed a wicked drive shot that kept the rest of us scrambling to keep up.

He also enjoyed bowling, but to his dismay the 300 game eluded him. He did get a brief claim to fame when a member of his team posted videos of Bill still bowling despite needing to use a cane.

Bill married Janis Wright while still in college and together they raised 2 children, Ann and Bill. Later in life he married into his second family and helped raise step-daughters Celeste and Amy in Brandon, MS.

He ended his life in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with his partner Betty Daniels where they were able to golf and bowl as much as his joints allowed. His other hobby at this point was finding and refinishing old furniture. His wood working skills were excellent.

Bill, or Buddy as family called him, was a strong believer in the power of positivity and positive thinking. He expected that he could do anything, therefore he could. He was everything from mechanic to woodworker to electrician and in fact spent one year building a 3-story home in the woods of Newnan, Ga. He was always ready for the next challenge (or opportunity) in life and would meet that challenge head on.

He is predeceased by his parents Phil and Lucille Brintnall of Bryson City, his son William Earle Brintnall, Jr of Bryson City, and his brother Phillip Brintnall of Bryson City.

He is survived by his significant other Betty Daniels of Hot Spring Village AR, his daughter Ann (Robert) Dean of Knoxville,TN, his stepdaughter Celeste (Mack) Floyd and their daughter Elle of Waynesville NC, his stepdaughter Amy (Jay) Pieralisi and their son Russell of Oxford, MS, his sister Patricia (Jim) Swan of Petaluma, CA, and his brother John (Sara) Brintnall of Nashville, TN.
