Hockett
April 5, 1937 ~ December 8, 2025
From the retired Northwest Airlines pilot group,
we learn that Capt. Hal Hockett has passed due to a tragic traffic accident. Hal had most recently resided in
Colorado: 4606 E Peakview Ave,
Centennial, CO 80121. Service arrangements
are not yet known.

Hal Hockett, NWA retired, passed away on
Monday, December 8, 2025, as the result
of an automobile accident. Hal had
been to the NWA retiree luncheon in Lakeville, MN
on December 4th and was returning home
after the luncheon and visiting relatives in Iowa.
Hal touched a lot of airplanes at NWA,
B727, B747, B744, B757, DC-10. In the Navy he
experienced the DC-4 and DC-6 and the
SK-58 helicopter.
He will be missed. He was an
attender at many of the RNPA functions to include the
December luncheon in Lakeville, the St.
Croix Boat Cruise and the Sarasota March gathering. He will be missed.

News release from Wheeler County Sherrif’s
Office
At approximately 4:33 p.m., on Monday,
December 8, 2025, the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the
intersection of US Highway 281 and Highway 70 East, 7 miles North of Bartlett,
Wheeler County, Nebraska, regarding a two-vehicle injury accident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that
a 2014 Peterbilt with a grain trailer was traveling northbound on US Highway
281 approaching State Highway 70 East. Upon reaching the intersection, the
Peterbilt collided with a 2007 Ford F-150 that failed to yield as the driver
attempted to turn southbound from State Highway 70 onto US Highway 281.
The driver and sole occupant of the 2014
Peterbilt, identified as Jerald Peterson, 73, of Holt County, was not injured.
Airbags were not available, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected.
The driver and sole occupant of the 2007
Ford F-150, identified as Harold L. Hockett, 88, of Colorado, was transported
to from the scene, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced
deceased. Drugs and Alcohol are not suspected.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
Assistance was provided by the Antelope County Sheriff’s Office, Greeley County
Sheriff’s Office, Bartlett, Ericson, and Elgin Fire and Rescue, Neligh Rescue
and the Wheeler County Attorney.
