Word has been received with the passing of WA/DL Captain Raymond R. Guest, age 76.  I believe Captain Guest was born/raised in Pennsylvania.  He joined Western Airlines 05-16-1966.   Captain Guest is survived by his wife Constance ‘Connie’.  As was Captain Guest’s wishes, there were no services.  Personal condolences may be sent to the family at

Word from the family:

Captain Ray Guest, 76, of Hudson CO, died Friday, November 29th of cardiac arrest.

He's survived by his wife, Connie; daughters Janice Dean of Longmont CO, and Dawn Downey of Florence AL. His son Scott died in July of 2013 of cancer.

Ray had 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was cremated and there won't be any services.

This loving husband, father and grandfather will be sorely missed.

DL Capt. Charles E. Schmidt Jr.

MSY/ATL DL Capt. Charles Emile Schmidt, Jr.

Word has been received with the passing of retired DL pilot Captain Charles E. Schmidt Jr., age 83.  Captain Schmidt joined Delta Air Lines 07-09-1956 and was based MSY for much of his career, then ATL prior to his retiring.  Captain Schmidt was widowed in 2006 with the passing of his wife Marie.  He had most recently resided at 215 Carondelet St.,  Mandeville  LA 70448-5651.

Obituary.........

Charles “Pike” Emile Schmidt, Jr. returned to his eternal home on Monday, December 2, 2013.

He was born in New Orleans September 23, 1930 and lived in the Folsom area for 55 years.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Marie Bergeron Schmidt and his parents, Charles E. Schmidt, Sr and Angele LeBesque Schmidt.

He is survived by his five daughters; Emily (Paul) Moore, Claire (Mark) Spano, Mary (Ron) Owens, Heidi (Grant) Brown and Patricia Schmidt. He was also survived by nine grandchildren; Cecile, Ellen, Abbie and Caroline Garcia; Lydia, Alex, and Sophie Spano; and Emily and Theresa Owens. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Schmidt Overton and many loving friends and family.

He attended Tulane University and Louisiana State University. At the age of 26, he was hired with Delta Airlines as a co-pilot trainee. He quickly became a Captain and flew with Delta for 31 years. He loved to fish, garden, hike, read and watch the Saints. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX award.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11345 St. John Church Rd., Folsom, LA 70437 at 1:00 PM with visitation at Church on Friday from 11:00 AM until service time.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

 'Her heart knew the faith it took to go the distance, and she now walks with Jesus hand in hand.' Marie A. Bergeron Schmidt returned to heaven after a courageous struggle with ALS on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the beloved wife of Charles E. Schmidt Jr. and beloved mother of Emily S. Garcia, Claire S. Spano and spouse Mark, Mary S. Owens and spouse Ronald, Heidi S. Brown and spouse Grant, and Patricia M. Schmidt. She will also be sadly missed by two sisters, Carolyn Bergeron and Mary Magdalene Jones; brother, Joseph W. Bergeron Jr.; nine grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Bergeron Sr. and Alma H. Bergeron. Originally from Luling, she has been a resident of Folsom for the past 43 years. She was a graduate of Hotel Dieu Nursing School. She has been an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, devoting many years to its community. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of St. John's Ladies' Prayer Group and a faithful servant to Our Blessed Mother. Private Service was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom. 11/29 from Linda Sorenson ...  I am sad to tell you that Cryssie Glenn called me today with the news that Mauriece Harvey, wife of deceased/retired Delta pilot, Fred Harvey, died on Monday. She will be interred in SLC with a celebration of life to be held up there on Dec 07. Her daughter, Freddie Deerman, requests no flowers and that donations be sent to The Roanoke Food Pantry, 108 Pecan,  Roanoke, TX  76202

Cryssie asked me to share this story with all of you as she has fond memories of this: Back when both Mauriece and Fred were alive, Cryssie, Mauriece and Judy, would take an angel off the Roanoke tree. They would take a day to shop and got everything on the list, plus more. They would bring it back to the Hangar and Fred would put together all the toys. They all had a joyous time in giving to someone not so fortunate.

Fred Anzley Harvey

April 23, 1927 - January 18, 2012  

Fred A. Harvey, 84, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2012.

Funeral services for Fred will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in Colleyville at 10:00 AM, interment will immediately follow. Visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Sunday, January 22 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.

Fred worked for Delta Airlines for almost 44 years, and retired as a captain. He was the last Delta employee of Delta Air Corporation. Fred was also a member of The Scottish Rite Freemasons. He was a loving father and grandfather and he was loved by all who knew him.

Survivors include wife of 65 years, Mauriece Harvey; daughter, Patricia Harvey and daughter Freddie Deerman and husband David, 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Word has been received of the passing of retired DL pilot and Delta Golden Wings member Captain Fred Harvey.  Born April 23, 1927 Fred Anzley Harvey Jr. was 84 years of age at the time of his passing January 18, 2012.  Fred hired on with Delta 10-30-1952 and was based at DFW.

Notification with the passing of retired DL Captain Samuel Howard Wells, age 80.  Captain Wells joined Delta Air Lines 01-16-1961 and retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1993.  He was based Miami, then Atlanta prior to his retirement.

Samuel “Sam” Wells, 80, of Spruce Creek, passed away on November 28, 2013. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-6pm at the Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange and The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 11am at the New Life Church, 5231 S Nova Road, Port Orange. Sam served his country in the U.S. Air force during the Korean War, continuing his love of flying he retired as a Captain for Delta Airlines. Sam was a very gifted musician and loved playing his guitar and singing. In addition to loving music he enjoyed flying, golfing and playing tennis. Sam is predeceased by his son Mark Joseph Wells. He is survived by his Loving wife of 55 years Joanna M. Wells, and there son Michael Howard Wells of Daytona. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: New life Church or Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.

Word has been received with news of the passing of PNA/WA retired pilot Captain Patrick James Fisher, age 88.  Captain Fisher hired on with Pacific Northern Airlines 05-01-1953 and retired with Western Airlines in 1985, based SEA.  Captain Fisher is survived by his wife Helen.  They had most recently resided in Kent WA but perhaps the best contact for the family would be c/o son Daniel at Dan.j.jfisher48@gmail.com  as is noted in Captain Fisher’s obituary.

Patrick James Fisher, 1925-2013

Born in Buxton, OR to Frank and Margaret Fisher. Graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1943. He served in the Navy in WWII aboard the USS Fred T. Berry as Radarman. Upon discharge he continued in Radio at Multnomah college and started Flight Training.

In 1946 he married Helen Fox, sharing a long and loving marriage for 67 years.

In 1950 he moved his family to Anchorage, AK where he was a Radio Engineer at station KFQD and continued Flight Training. Soon he was flying the greater Alaska Bush in a single engine and float planes. Later became a Flight Instructor at Merrill Field. After twin engine training he became a Commercial Pilot with Pacific Northern Airlines, eventually merging with Western/Delta. He retired as Captain after 32 years. He felt honored to have flown the last Lockheed "Connie" commercial flight in the U.S.

At retirement, he and his sons started a refrigerated trucking company in five states. After 6 years he gave up his rights as the onset of deregulation. 

Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed being home with his family. Soaring became his hobby. We remember his humor came easily - his boldness helped him to meet his life's goals.

He is survived by his wife Helen; brother Michael Fisher of Brush Prairie, sister Patricia Powers of Kelso, WA; four sons, Michael (Gretchen) of Tacoma WA, Daniel (Terry) of Auburn, WA, Lawrence of Kent, WA, Stephen (Joy) of Sumner, WA; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful to the kind staff at Hallmark Manor.
