~ IN MEMORY ~

Bernita Maureen Measles, widow of DL Capt. Bobby Measles

 March 9, 1937 ~ May 22, 2023

https://www.kleinfh.com/obituary/bernita-measles

Bernita Maureen (Obenhaus) Measles, age 86, went to be with her Lord and husband on May 22, 2023.  She leaves behind family friends and many caregivers that loved her so dearly.

Bernita was born to Adolf Henry Obenhaus and Agnes Frances Obenhaus on March 9, 1937 in Kress, TX.  She attended Kress school all 12 years.  This is where she met the love of her life Bobby Gene Measles.  On December 15, 1956 they were married in Plainview, TX. They moved to Earth, TX where they farmed and had two children, Bobby Bryan and Brenda Gayle.  They left farming and moved to Plainview where she spent time raising and chasing her children.  In 1963 she and Bobby loaded up all they had and moved to Arkansas where he learned to fly and sold airplanes.  In 1966 they packed and moved to Atlanta Georgia where Bobby started flying for Delta Airlines.  They lived here for 3 months and were transferred to the Dallas, TX area.  In 1968 they were transferred to Sharpston in Houston TX.  In 1970, when they built Intercontinental Airport, they moved to Spring, TX where they lived until 1985.

While living in Spring, TX she helped with Explorer Scouts (teenage girls and boys), sang in the church choir and kept up with all of Bryan’s football games and Brenda’s band and then drill team events.  She loved going to each one of these events.

In 1985 they decided Spring, TX was becoming way too busy and they wanted a slower paced life so they found 90 acres in Mineola, TX where they built a life they truly loved. She enjoyed singing in the choir and becoming very active at the church. They raised cattle that she loved to name and even pet.  Her joy was spending time outside working in her yard and just enjoying the sounds and quiet of their land. In 2011 they decided, due to health issues, to move close to Brenda in Magnolia, TX.

One thing she truly loved was each of her three grandkids. She loved each one in their own way. Josh and Gabby loved the outdoors and all that it entailed which she thoroughly enjoyed with them. Kalee loved things inside and she spent many hours enjoying those things with her.  Her smile, when she was with them, told how very much she loved each one of them.

Bernita is survived by her son Bobby Bryan Measles (Cindy), daughter Brenda Gayle Mayo (Mark), grandchildren Josh Measles (Ashley), Kalee Measles, Gabrielle Cantrell (Austin) and great granddaughters Elliana Measles and Emsley Measles, and great granddaughter, due July 1, Emery Cantrell, and brother Harold Obenhaus (Ruth) and sister Delores Obermueller.

Bernita is preceded in death by Bobby Gene Measles (husband), parents Adolph and Agnes Obenhaus, sisters- Evelyn Obermueller (Vernon) and Sylvia Abbott (Harvey), and brother in law Virgil.

A very special thank you goes to A Place at Home Woodlands owners, Adam and Trista Johnson, and the many loving caregivers they placed with Bernita.  The love they showed can never be repaid.  And to Reunion Court memory care unit (Keepsake Gardens).  They showed Bernita love like she was their own mom and they loved Bobby just as much even if he didn’t live in the memory care (which was important to Bernita). Words can never express how much the family appreciates each one of these people.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bernita Measles to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Obituary : Bobby Gene Measles

Bobby Gene Measles, age 86, went home to be with his Lord on January 15, 2023. He leaves behind many family and friends who love him deeply.

Bobby was born on March 31, 1936 in Olton, TX to JG and Mary Measles. He attended Olton schools but finished his high school in Kress, TX. This is where he met the love of his life Bernita Obenhaus. On December 15, 1956 they were married in Plainview, TX. They moved to Earth, TX where he farmed and they had two children Bobby Bryan and Brenda. They left farming and moved to Plainview where he worked three jobs and learned to fly. In 1963 he picked his family up and moved to Arkansas and sold Piper and Cessna planes and taught others how to fly. In 1966 he got a job with Delta Airlines and again picked his family up and moved to Atlanta, Georgia for 3 months. Delta then moved them to the Dallas, TX area until 1968. In 1968 they moved to Sharpstown, TX and he flew out of Hobby Airport. In 1970 Houston Intercontinental Airport was built and they moved to Spring, TX.

While in Spring, Tx he not only flew for Delta but he also was very active in Boy Scouts and Explorers and building the volunteer fire department in Northampton. They made many memories with their kids and friends while living in Northampton. In 1984 he and Bernita decided they were ready for a slower paced life so they moved to Mineola, TX where they bought a beautiful 90 acre piece of property. He flew out of Dallas, TX while living in Mineola. He was very active in Farm Bureau, Mineola School Board, First Baptist Mineola and spending time with friends. In 2011 he began to have health issues so he and Bernita decided it was best to live near family. They sold their 90 acres and moved away from the friends they loved so much to Magnolia, TX where Brenda lives………………….

Carole Jean McLellan, wife of NEA/DL Capt. Bud McLellan

~ IN MEMORY ~

Carole Jean McLellan, wife of NEA/DL Capt. Bud McLellan

July 10, 1931  -  April 30, 2023

https://www.hallfuneralhome.net/obituaries/Carole-Jean-McLellan?obId=27929371#/obituaryInfo

Obituary :  Carole Jean (née Ambrose) McLellan, 91, of Portland, ME, passed away on April 30, 2023, after a period of declining health.

Carole was born on July 10, 1931, to Leigh and Hilma Ambrose in Island Falls. She was born at home and weighed a whopping 2.5 pounds. Her grandmother, Mina White, sewed a little dress for her and placed her in a shoe box in the warming oven of the kitchen cook stove. Carole hiccupped for an entire week, which may have kept her lungs going!

Her family loved her as an only child, but when she was about 15 years old, her family welcomed her baby sister Linda. Carole and Linda, born years apart, were so remarkably close, and although later lived hundreds of miles apart, remained best friends and loving sisters until Linda’s passing from breast cancer in 1999.

Carole married her high school sweetheart, Bertrand James “Bud’ McLellan, on July 10, 1951, her 20th birthday. Bud always remarked that he WAS her birthday present! Bud and Carole flew to Nugent Camps at Chamberlain Lake for a brief honeymoon (via borrowed seaplane) then moved to Lincoln, Massachusetts where they lived until after their son Barry was born. They bought their first house in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and welcomed daughters Bonnie, Brenda, and Christy.

Later they bought a large tract of land in Boxford, Massachusetts, complete with gristmill and pond, and with business partners developed a subdivision there. They built a beautiful reproduction colonial home overlooking the pond. During the summer months, the family and pets (dog, cat, and bunny) travelled to northern Maine, waterskiing on Perry Pond, and visiting grandparents and large extended families.

In 1971, they bought “the camp,” on Trickey Pond in Naples, Maine where the family legacy took hold and huge family gatherings the norm. Carole served dinners for up to 25 or 30 at a time, where meals seemed like Thanksgiving every week. Carole learned to slalom ski and volunteered as the “observer” in the Red Boat for hours on end while all the kids and relatives took turns waterskiing.

When Barry left home to fly for Bar Harbor Airlines and Bonnie went away to college, Carole went back to school and earned her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1974. Staff and patients appreciated her caring, compassion, and work ethic alike.

In 1979 Delta Airlines offered Bud the chance to fly the L10LL Jumbo jet, which required a relocation to Florida. Their first home was in Pompano Beach, then bought a larger home in Delray Beach, where they enjoyed playing tennis, boating, and making new friends.

When Bud retired, they bought a motor home and spent years traveling throughout the United States and Canada. One of her favorite places to visit was Branson, Missouri.

In 2018, they sold their home in Florida and became “official” year-round residents of Trickey Pond. Carole was so happy to be with her family full time! She was a great cook, always well dressed and so beautiful! And so gracious, kind, and loving! All adored her!

She loved to entertain, shop, and go out to dinner and dance. Carole and Bud were fixtures at Sydney’s and Merced’s in Naples, ME. She was always eager to play cards and games, enjoyed reading, and watching “her” soap opera. Carole stayed connected with her large extended family through letter writing and was known for never forgetting to send cards celebrating birthdays or other special occasions.

And Christmas! She had her little notebook filled with lists for everyone and spent months shopping and wrapping gifts.

Even when ill, she showed appreciation for the medical staff and was polite and kind. She always put others before herself and never complained; except to Bud, whom she referred to as “Henry” when exasperated with him. Her sense of humor and love for family, stayed with her until her passing. We miss her so!

Predeceased by her parents, sister, Linda, son Barry, and infant daughter Angela Dawn, Carole leaves behind her husband Bud, daughters Bonnie Pierpont and husband Richard, Brenda Olsen and husband Rolf, Christy Fogg and husband Robert, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and so many friends who loved her as family, as well as her cat, Misty.

Celebration of Life at Trickey Pond planned for later this summer.

May God Please bless her soul.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hall Funeral Home in Casco where condolences and tributes may be shared at www.hallfuneralhome.net

DL F/A Hope Hamilton Lytton, widow of DL Capt. Brad Lytton

April 20, 1957 - May 10, 2023

Notice of passing…..Hope Lytton, widow of DL Capt. Lewis Bradley ‘Brad’ Lytton who passed in 2018.

HOPE LYTTON OBITUARY

Peachtree City, Georgia - Hope Hamilton Lytton went home to be with her heavenly Father on May 10, 2023. She was born to the late Bobby Hamilton and the late Helen Octavia Hamilton on April 20, 1957, in Pascagoula, MS.

Hope grew up in Mississippi. She had a close-knit family and always said she was the favorite as the only daughter! Her beloved gulf coast never left her heart and she enjoyed many trips to be near the water, go fishing and enjoy the salt air.

Hope graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1975 and attended Mississippi State University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she got the bug to travel and applied to be a flight attendant with Delta Air Lines.

It was at Delta that she met the love of her life, Brad. They married and enjoyed their airline careers beginning in New Orleans, LA.

After the birth of their only son, Jordan Houston Lytton, they moved and settled in Peachtree City, GA in 1987.

Hope and Brad were gracious hosts and frequently entertained in their lovely home. They enjoyed their many friendships, supper club dinners, involvement in their community and traveling to many beach destinations as a family. They were also active in their church, the local Boy Scouts and many activities Jordan was involved in. Hope also participated in charitable work with the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority and other organizations in town. She was always willing to help with fundraisers and events to raise money for various charities.

Hope had a love and knack for decorating. With a friend, she dabbled in an interior design business and took great care making her lovely house a warm and inviting home. Through the years, she helped many of her close friends do the same by taking them shopping and helping with design and decor ideas.

When Brad battled cancer for ten years, his attitude and upbeat personality never ceased to amaze her and their family. Brad passed away at home in August 2018, with Hope by his side. She continued to mourn his passing but celebrated the wonderful times they shared in their 35 years of marriage.

Hope will be deeply missed and long celebrated by her family and friends. The one common attribute everyone shared about Hope was that she had a heart of gold. She never missed the opportunity to make and take a delicious dish to those who needed a gift of food.

She was a southern Belle who would regale her time as a beauty queen and would drag her crown out if you wanted to see it! She would give you anything she had and was always willing to share her time, beautiful smile and quick wit with those she loved. She was an attentive and loving mother and eventually a grandmother to their only grandchild, Jace Benjamin Lytton.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Raymond and devoted husband, Brad. She is survived by her son and grandson; step mother Frances, Lucedale, MS; brother Bobby, Pascagoula, MS; step sister, Anne Wilson (Wayne), Pascagoula and stepbrother, Phil Howell (Gwen), Lafayette, LA; her cousin Jasmin Clark, Meadville, MS; niece and nephew, Misti Perkins and Chad Hamilton. She is also survived by brother-in-law Jeff (Bernie) and his family, Bedford, IN. Additionally, she is survived by special friend, Skip Cashman.

Laura Frances Brewer Kellum……………………..

Laura Brewer Kellum, a longtime resident of Denton, TX, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on May 5, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Denton to Dan and Mae Brewer on October 12, 1936. She met Billy, her husband and love of her life, at Mayhill Elementary in the 4th grade, and they formed a fast friendship. A few years later, Billy was delighted when Laura and her family moved next door to his family. They graduated together in the Denton High School class of ‘55 and then attended North Texas State College. Laura and Billy were married on June 22, 1957 and enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage.

As their children, Mike and Marcia, arrived, Laura gladly became a full-time homemaker. After Billy completed his Air Force obligation and went to work for Delta Airlines in 1966, the family returned to their hometown of Denton. As a faithful member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ, Laura was actively involved in children’s ministry, ladies Bible class, the food pantry, visitation teams, mentoring of young couples and families, home groups, and in providing meals to those in need.

True to her Christian upbringing and southern heritage, Laura was known for her hospitality and generous spirit. She was truly the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. Her door was always open, and she loved and welcomed all. Laura loved to read, travel, cook delicious meals, and spend time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her role as “Grammy” to her two grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. She will long be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and servanthood.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mae Brewer, and by a brother, Dan Jr. She is survived by her husband, Billy Kellum; her children, Michael Kellum (Gaynell) and Marcia Kellum; her grandchildren, Miles Kellum (Valerie), and Bonnie Massias (Jonathan); three great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Childers and Linda Phillips; brother, James Brewer; and sister-in-law, Barbara Reese, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on Saturday, May 13th, at the Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton (101 Cardinal Lane). There will be a visitation at the church building at 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Singing Oaks Children’s Ministry ( https://singingoaks.churchcenter.com/giving ) or the Arms of Hope Ministry ( https://aohlegacy.org ).

obit at NanSea Welsh Obituary (1949 - 2023) - Tacoma, WA - News Tribune (Tacoma) (legacy.com)

NanSea Welsh

April 29, 1949 - April 30, 2023

Tacoma, Washington - NanSea Ann Welsh died at St Joseph's Hospital Tacoma, a day after her 74th birthday. After 4 days in a coma, she opened her eyes and died peacefully on 30 April 2023. Her cause of death was a severe reaction to immunotherapy she was taking for metastatic melanoma.

NanSea was born on 29 April 1949 to Larry Schleining and Kathryn Holodnick

in Helena, MT. After NanSea graduated from Puyallup High School in 1967, she worked in the banking industry followed by working as an executive secretary for Weyerhaeuser Paper Division, a financial broker, an industrial CEO, and finally as the Business License Administrator for the City of Kent, WA.

NanSea was introduced to Charlie Welsh by Charlie's ex-wife who recognized their mutual interest in tennis and skiing. They were married on 24 November 1995. Charlie retired as 747 captain in 1999 and NanSea retired from the city of Kent the following year. Their 28 years of marriage was an incredible adventure for the two. They skied in most of the resorts in the US and many in Europe. They didn't just visit all 50 states, but slept in all of them. They traveled to 63 countries throughout the world and cruised on river and ocean ships for more than 400 days.

NanSea was renowned for her craft talents with computer graphics, calligraphy and Cricut design. She did the graphics and name tags for numerous high school and Charlie's military reunions. In 1988 she decided to learn how to use computers. She enrolled in a class at the community college called "Basic" thinking it was a class to teach her how to turn the computer on. Basic turned out to be an advanced computer language. She got an A in that class and continued on to get her Associates degree in Aviation. She graduated from Green River College as valedictorian with her Commercial and Instrument licenses.

She is survived by her mother, Kathryn Schleining, her husband, Charlie Welsh, her daughter Jenifer Ryser, Jenifer's husband, Jeremy Ryser, Charlie's two daughters, Jennifer Anderson and Katie Welsh, Katie's husband, Arnoud Zeelen, and grandchildren, Sydnie Nix, Charles Zeelen, Daniel Cook and his wife, Anna.

There will be a memorial service at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent WA 98042, May 17, 2023. The service begins at 11:15.
