Donald Bushey Obituary

Donald Joseph "Don" Bushey, age 72, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home on September 25, 2025 surrounded by his entire family.

Born on November 1, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late William and Lillian Bushey, Don grew up in Mission, KS, attending St. Pius X, Bishop Miege High School, and the University of Kansas. He earned his private pilot license in 1973 from Johnson County Community College, beginning a lifelong career in aviation. By 1974, Don had become a commercial pilot and was soon flying with Lawrence Aviation before earning his flight engineer rating in 1978. In March 1979, he was hired by Delta Air Lines, where he moved his family to Atlanta and rose through the ranks to become Captain in January 1992. After retiring in 2004 as a 757/767 Captain, Don continued to fly with Cargo 360, piloting 747s between Anchorage, Alaska, and Incheon, South Korea, from 2005 to 2007. He then returned to Delta Global Services as a highly respected 757/767 Flight Instructor, a role he held until his passing.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Don's greatest joy was his family. He met the love of his life, Susan, in January 1974, and the two were married in January 1976 at Queen of the Holy Rosary in Overland Park, Kansas. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Don was a devoted husband, father, papa, and brother, known for his quiet strength and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Don was a man of many talents-an exceptional cook who delighted in preparing meals for his family, a skilled woodworker, and a true "Camaro man." He loved being outdoors, whether working in the yard or traveling the world with Susan. Their most recent trip to Alaska, shared with family, was a life-changing experience he treasured deeply.

A faithful and active member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, Don's life was rooted in his faith and his love for community. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian Bushey. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Susan; his children, Donald Jr. (Elizabeth) Bushey of Jonesboro, Aileen Johnson of Stockbridge, Emily (Oliver) Shaw of Chamblee, and Jacob (Jessica) Bushey of Chamblee; his sisters, Diana (Bill) Rash of Illinois and Deborah (John Cadet) Bushey of Washington; and his cherished grandchildren, Xavier Johnson, Noah Johnson, Isaac Bryant, Aaliyah Bryant, Aarielle Bryant, Lola O'Harris, Lily O'Harris, and Colin Shaw.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Honey Creek Woodlands Cemetery at a later date. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Jonesboro in Don's memory.

Don will be remembered as a man of integrity, generosity, and devotion, who left an enduring legacy of love, faith, and family.

William Rhys Wilkie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barton Family Funeral Service of Edmonds on Sep. 25, 2025.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Rhys Wilkie "flew West," as they say in aviation parlance, with family by his side in Edmonds, Washington on September 1, 2025 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rhys was born and raised in Seattle, Washington by father Richard Francis Wilkie and mother Janet Adams Wilkie. He had two siblings, a sister Carolyn and brother Richard "Richie" Wilkie. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and went on to attend the University of Washington where he majored in English. During these years, he developed an early love of the outdoors hiking and skiing with friends in the Cascades. This would lead to a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

Following university, Rhys joined the United States Marine Corps, which led him to a career in aviation. There he earned his "wings of gold" and went on to fly the F-8 Crusader. He served in Vietnam for 13 months flying a reconnaissance version of the airplane known as the RF-8.

While stationed in El Toro, California, he met Gail Aalbu (the love of his life) on Balboa Island. He quickly introduced her to his love of the outdoors, taking her up Mount Whitney with a bottle of wine and a book of poetry. Rhys and Gail were married September 30, 1965. After returning from his duty in Vietnam, which he frequently expressed gratitude for surviving, they raised two sons, Bret and Todd, in the Seattle area.

Following his return from Vietnam, Rhys joined Northwest Airlines. He got his start as a Second Officer in the Boeing 727. During his 30 year career with Northwest, he flew the: B727, B707, DC-10, B757 and the B747. He retired from airline flying as Captain on the B747-400. In this airplane, he flew mainly to and within Asia.

Family life for Rhys, Gail and the boys included their love of the outdoors. Rhys and Gail taught the boys to sail, ski, hike and camp. During this time, Rhys climbed Mount Rainier, Mt Adams, and Mt Hood with his two sons. Somehow he found time to build two homes also. Another activity for Rhys and Gail was sailing the San Juan Islands in their beloved sailboat "Windhover." During this time, Rhys taught his children and then grandchildren how to sail. He was very proud of this.

Rhys retired from Northwest Airlines in 1997. After seeing Sun Valley, Idaho over a short weekend they had found their place! He and Gail bought a house and lived there for 28 years where they continued their love of the outdoors hiking, skiing, and even sledding with the grandkids.

Rhys was preceded in death by his first mother, Mary Wilkie, his parents Richard and Janet Wilkie and his sister Carolyn Smith Wilkie. He is survived by his brother Rich, wife Gail of 60 years, sons Bret (Julie) and Todd (Leslie), two grandchildren, Ellie (19) and James (17), and many good friends around the country and world. Rhys's sense of humor, kindness, penchant for the outdoors, and adventurous spirit have provided many happy memories for those he leaves behind. May he rest easily and peacefully, having created a life well lived. Rhys requested no funeral. As a family, we will honor this wish.

IN THE CARE OF Roswell Funeral Home & Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum

Gerard “Gerry” Francis Dreiling passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family Friday, September 19, 2025.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Roswell, GA. Reception to follow. A service of inurnment, with full military honors, will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Marietta, GA.

The son of Dorothy and Sylvester Dreiling, he was born on September 17, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up in Cincinnati, he attended St. Clair Grade School, St. Xavier High School, and graduated from Xavier University with a bachelor’s degree in business, while he was also an ROTC cadet. Who knew that when Gerry raised his hand along with his friends with interest in flying, he was about to embark on a career in aviation. He served honorably as an aviation officer in the Army during the Vietnam War.

While in college, by chance, Gerry met the love of his life, Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Meister. Kathy drew his name out of a hat to be her date for the evening. It was love at first sight, and the couple wed in 1965. After a tour in Vietnam, he began a distinguished career with Delta Air Lines, retiring as an L-1011 Captain after 31 years. His mission in life was to live life to its fullest. As an avid athlete and sports fan, Gerry enjoyed many sports, and, most of all, golf, of which he has numerous holes-in-one. He even learned the game of soccer so he could coach the girls’ soccer team. During the summer and fall, one would often find Gerry rooting for his favorite sports teams – Atlanta Braves, Notre Dame and Auburn. He always looked forward to the next travel experience whether it was by land, air or sea. The trips he appreciated most were those with family including skiing, cruises, participating in his grandchildren’s milestone events and visiting family members all over the country. Gerry loved family and was always grateful for the time spent with all. He was an adoring loyal husband, a loving father and an amazing grandfather who will be, above all, known for his fun-loving spirit, sense of adventure, and his gift for telling stories and jokes.

Additionally, Gerry was a man of strong faith, service and had many interests. He was constantly giving of himself in so many ways. Throughout his adult life, he was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Eucharistic Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, Clark Howard volunteers, and natural disaster relief efforts. At home, he was meticulous about his lawn and garden, especially, he loved his roses, and for many years he served as HOA president in his neighborhood. Gerry never held back in putting forth his all in everything he did. He set a great example of when you set your mind on a goal, anything is possible. He had a way of making things happen and bringing everyone else on board, all with a smile on his face and a positive attitude.

Gerry is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy and father Sylvester Dreiling; brother-in-law Thomas Heidrich; and niece Susan Heidrich.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years and best friend, Kathy Dreiling; daughter Debbie Dreiling Donohue (husband Chris); daughter Beth Dreiling Sneed (husband Rob); grandchildren, Brian Donohue and Erin Donohue; sister Anita Heidrich and nephew Mark Heidrich.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Peter Chanel.

….A life well and truly lived….

Godfrey Wilhelm Biscamp

Godfrey Wilhelm “GW” Biscamp passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas on September 1, 2025. A Test Pilot, an Airline Captain, Professional Engineer and Force of Nature, GW lived a life defined by passion, precision and purpose. His legacy is etched in the skies he loved, the machines he mastered and the lives he touched with fierce determination and unshakeable loyalty.

From youth, GW was captivated by flight – spending high school afternoons watching take- off and landings at the Atlanta airport. After graduation from TCU, he became a Test Pilot for defense contractor Northrop Grumman, pushing high performance jets to their limits. He later joined the U.S. Air Force, where he felt at home in an F-4 Phantom, what he called “a true Pilot’s plane”. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before transitioning to civil aviation, quickly becoming a Captain with Delta Airlines.

After the events of 9/11 changed the landscape of commercial aviation, GW was recruited by NASA, where he again used his skills to test aircraft. While there, he also leaned into his engineering background. Under the mentorship of a top Operations Manager there, GW helped manage large-scale engineering projects and became an early expert in the emerging field of Life Safety Engineering. His contributions there culminated in earning his Ph.D. in Engineering.

When he was diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, GW was told that the only solution – a double-lung transplant - was too risky for him. But with typical perseverance, and the help of a gifted surgeon Dr. Gabriel Loor and his staff at Baylor St. Luke in Houston, a GW-style miracle happened. After a year of recovery, he fulfilled a promise he had made to himself. He jumped in his truck, drove to Dallas and knocked on the door of his high-school sweetheart that he had not spoken to in 43 years. She opened the door, and her heart, to him and they lived happily together the rest of his days.

GW is survived by his loving wife Lynn, adored daughter Emily Wilson and beloved granddaughter Sarah Wollam.

Donations in his name would be welcomed by Baylor College of Medicine Lung Transplant Research Fund c/o Dr. Gabriel Loor, to allow more people this marvelous gift of more time.

Please join his family in celebrating his life by remembering him when, on a clear night, there’s a twinkling light very high in the sky, moving very fast.

John is preceded in death by his parents John Aven Carroll Sr. and Elsie Bryant Carroll.

John graduated Headland High in Eastpoint GA in 1960.  John was known by his friends and family as “Johnny”.  Following his graduation from high school, he pursued two years of pre-medical studies in Atlanta.  He soon determined that this was not his area of interest.  He withdrew from pre-med studies and enrolled in Auburn University's Aviation Management program in Alabama.  He completed his studies in 1969, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management along with Multi-Engine and Single-Engine pilot licenses, as well as the Ground School Instructor License.

He accumulated more than 30,000 hours of flying retiring from Delta. Following several mergers—Northwest merged with Delta, Southern Airways and North Central Airways formed Republic Airlines, and Republic acquired Hughes Air West to expand operations to the west coast.   The final merger, in 1986, Republic merged with Northwest Airlines.

John also had an Airframe and Engine Mechanics License and was recognized by FAA with an award for “Master Mechanics License Award for 50 years of working on airplanes”. Beyond his professional achievements, John will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and devotion. He had an extraordinary memory for life events and you never knew what he might say when you least expected it.

While stationed in Atlanta with Southern Airways he and several friends from Southern founded Willow Pond Airport in Fayetteville, GA where he built and resided in a home with a hanger.  Later he joined a partnership and created Hogjowl Airport on Lookout Mountain in Cloudland, GA., He then built a cabin there to call home.

John enjoyed a celebrated career and life in avionics.  John was also a collector and loved his toys, airplanes, cars, motorcycles, etc.  He was involved in Blue Grass as a professional bass and harmonica player.  One might say he was well diversified.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Carroll; his stepson, Kevin Nation; and his close companion, Abby. He was known for his friendship and willingness to help others anyway he could.  Up until he passed, he was mentoring young men with futures in aviation.  He is one of a kind and will be missed by many. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

There will be a Fly-in/Drive-in/Walk-in Celebration of Johns life at Hogjowl Airport on November 1st. There will be refreshments. Come prepared to share memories and laughter.

Mary Felini Obituary

FELINI, Mary

Mary Felini passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 13, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. In her final weeks, her children gathered closely, holding her hand and saying their goodbyes-a reflection of the deep love she poured into her family throughout her life.

Mary was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on September 28, 1937. She often reflected fondly on her childhood there, recalling with delight that she "walked where George Washington walked." Her family later moved to Havelock, North Carolina, where she graduated from New Bern High School, and eventually settled in Pensacola, Florida.

It was on Pensacola Beach, more than sixty years ago, that Mary met her beloved husband, William "Bill" Felini, a Marine aviator stationed at the Naval Air Station. Their meeting sparked a love story that grew into six decades of marriage, a family of five children, and a life built on faith, devotion, and strength. Mary's greatest joy was found in her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. While Bill's career as a Delta Airlines pilot often carried him far from home, she anchored their household with prayer, encouragement, and an unshakable love for God. She instilled in her children the values of faith, perseverance, and compassion, lessons that continue to echo through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alongside her devotion to family, Mary built a remarkable 43-year career in real estate. She served as President of the Irving Board of Realtors and the Irving Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, where she was honored as "Woman of the Year" in 1985. Her leadership extended to the state and national levels, where she served as Chairman of the Texas State Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors and as Governor of its National Chapter. At one time, she was the only certified instructor in Texas qualified to teach Real Estate Ethics, a role she carried out with integrity and dedication.

These accomplishments were a reflection of her character-diligent, principled, and committed to serving others. Yet, for all her honors and accolades, Mary's proudest achievements were never measured in titles. They were found in the strength of her marriage, the faith of her children, and the countless lives she touched with kindness, wisdom, and prayer. She carried herself with humility and grace, always pointing others toward God as the true source of strength and purpose. Though she believed she would one day be the one to care for her husband in their later years, her only sorrow was leaving him behind. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now free from pain, reunited with her Savior, and watching lovingly over those she cherished so deeply. Mary was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed until the day when all who love the Lord are reunited with her in Heaven.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William Robert Felini; her sister, Joyce Austin Keeley of Arkansas; her five children: Linda Felini-Smith (James), Karen Boozer (Kenneth), Lisa Brandon (Bo), Louis Felini (Martha), and Michael Felini (Cynda); 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Russell Austin and Jessie Lillian Berry Austin, and her brothers, William "Billy" Austin, Kenneth Wayne Austin, and Cecil Austin. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in honor of Mary to be made to First Methodist Church of Irving, Texas https://www.irvingfirst.org/giving

From Marty Chanik, on behalf of The Golden Eagles:

It is my sad duty to inform you that in the early morning of Wednesday, 10 September 2025, Golden Eagle CDR Lewis E. “Jumper” HOYT, USNR (Ret), made his Last Take Off in Sedona, AZ, with his wife Nancy by his side. Jumper was 82 years of age.

To be very clear to all our members, and as I am sure Jumper would say, he was first, foremost, and always a proud Marine, and part of our Golden Eagle Marine contingent. When he left active duty as a Major after 12 years in the Marine Corps, he joined the Navy Reserves so he could continue flying fighters out of NAS Miramar, eventually retiring as a USNR officer, hence his official title of CDR USNR (Ret). While also proud to serve in the Navy Reserves, his heart and soul was the Marine Corps.

Jumper was born in Glendale, CA, in June 1943. Growing up in nearby San Marino, he attended San Marino High School. He was a standout athlete — Captain of the football and track teams, and won the California Championship in the high jump, topping 6 feet, 8 inches. He was also a student body officer and excellent student, graduating in 1961. He earned both football and track scholarships to the University of Southern California, which he attended, and made the Dean’s List for all four years he was there. In 1963, while at USC, he won the National Collegiate Championship in the high jump and was selected to the All-American College Track and Field Team. He was the Captain of the USC track team for two years, and one of the first in the nation to exceed 7 feet in the high jump. Jumper was also a member, as an alternate, on two USA Olympic teams, 1964 and 1968. He graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology — he would later add a Master of Science in Systems Engineering also from USC, earned during off-duty hours while in the Marine Corps.

While at USC Jumper decided he would become a Marine Aviator. He enrolled in the USMC Officers Candidate School (OCS) program, winning the Commandant’s Trophy as the number one graduate and setting new records in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and obstacle course. Commissioned in July 1967, he reported to NAS Pensacola, FL, in December 1967 to VT-1, beginning his flight training in the T-34B Mentor. Reporting to NAS Meridian, MS, in March 1968 he commenced basic jet training flying the T-2A/T-2B Buckeye for one year before reporting to VT-4 back at Pensacola for air-to-air gunnery and carrier qualification in the T-2B. In June 1969 he reported to NAS Beeville, TX, for advanced jet training in the TAF-9J Cougar, finishing as the number one graduate and earning his Wings of Gold on 14 November 1969.

Jumper next reported to the VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters, the F-4 Phantom II RAG at MCAS El Toro in April 1970. Completing the transition syllabus for the Phantom II, Jumper joined his first fleet squadron in August 1970, the VMFA-531 Grey Ghosts, at MCAS El Toro, CA, flying the F-4. Fellow Golden Eagles Fokker RIETSCH and Stick RICHARD were also in the squadron, serving as mentors to Jumper. In August 1971 Jumper reported to the VMFA-

232 Red Devils, based at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, flying the F-4J. Deploying to Da Nang, Vietnam, in April 1972 for approximately 3 months before redeploying to Nam Phong, Thailand, the squadron was engaged in combat operations in Vietnam. During this time Jumper flew 30 combat missions prior to departing for his next assignment in July 1972, reporting back to El Toro to serve as the aide to the Assistant Wing Commander, 3rd Marine Air Wing. Completing that one year assignment, he joined the VMFA-323 Death Rattlers in July 1973, again flying the F-4 from MCAS El Toro. The squadron was commanded by Golden Eagle Lancer SULLIVAN, another mentor to Jumper.

After two years in the squadron, Jumper received orders to TOPGUN to serve as an instructor, reporting to NAS Miramar, in July 1975, where he flew the T- 38 Talon, A-4E Skyhawk, and F-5E/F Tiger II. In those three plus busy years, he had the opportunity for multiple experiences flying with both U.S. and foreign aviators. He hosted at his home two Israeli fighter pilots while they attended the five week TOPGUN syllabus, and he made several training detachments to other foreign countries — flying and instructing with Canadian air force F-5s, F-104s, and F-18s, Dutch F-5s and F-104s, Egyptian F-4s, Mirage 5s, Mirage 2000s, and Mig-21s, and Kuwaiti A-4Ms, Hawker Hunters, and Mirage F-1s. Finally, when a trip fell through, he took leave and funded his own trip to Israel to fly and instruct with their F-4s, KFIRs, and Mirage 3s and 5s. He finished his tour in TOPGUN participating in what was then the highly classified Project Have Idea, now declassified, the exploitation and use as adversaries of Mig-17 and Mig-21 aircraft.

Jumper completed his active-duty time with the Marine Corps in October 1979, transitioning to the Navy Reserve where he joined VF-302 at NAS Miramar, flying the F-4N and F-4S for the next five years. He also joined Western Airlines, and then Delta Airlines for a 25-year career as a commercial airline pilot.

In his twelve years of active duty with the Marines, Jumper accumulated 4,441 hours of flight time, with a heavy emphasis on air combat maneuvering (ACM) as the above paragraphs note. He also had a significant amount of time not logged due to flying with other countries. He had a single combat tour in Vietnam, with 30 missions flown and was awarded five Strike/Flight Air medals. Without question, he was a superb tactician, aviator, and an expert in the realm of ACM, with world-wide current experience. His subsequent career as an airline pilot would add another 15,000 hours of flight time to his logbook. Clearly, he was born to fly. As he stated to many, he was very proud and humbled to be a Golden Eagle.

Jumper married the love of his life, Nancy, in August 2000. They permanently settled in Sedona, AZ, in 2003, from San Diego, when he retired from Delta Airlines. Jumper and Nancy were very active in the Sedona community, with Jumper coaching, mentoring, and motivating students at Sedona Red Rock High School. He was a member of the Sedona 30, a charitable service association that improves the community through financial support to nonprofit organizations. He was founder and chairman of the Sedona Miracle, a now annual fund-raising event that supports local nonprofits. In 2006, Jumper was Sedona’s “Citizen of the Year.” Remarkably, this was a year after he fought and survived a hard battle with throat and tongue cancer. In their quest to continue to give back and promote youth education, Jumper and Nancy have created two endowments to the Sedona Red Rock High School that supports both academic and athletic programs, as well as funding several other endowments supporting student scholarships and teacher supplies support. They have also made a generous estate gift to Kappa Alpha, Jumper’s fraternity, in a commitment to funding leadership and education.

Jumper is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, and his brother Paul. Memorial services are in the planning stage, and those details will be provided in a Special Notice when known.

He will be missed.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Lew Hoyt — a devoted mentor, volunteer, and true community champion. Lew was a National Collegiate Champion in the high jump and an alternate on the U.S. teams in the 1960s; he served our country as a Marine fighter pilot and later as a TOPGUN instructor, then spent decades as a commercial airline captain. After surviving cancer, Lew and his wife Nancy gave generously to local students and teachers (including the “Empowering Kids” scholarships and other endowments), and Lew spent countless hours coaching and encouraging Sedona Red Rock High School athletes — treating our students like his own.

As Lew often said:

“Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Believe, set goals, and work harder than other people. If you want to be average, just do what everybody else does. That’s how you learn to be the best that you can be.”

We are forever grateful for his service, his generosity, and the countless lives he lifted up. His example of excellence and service will continue to inspire our students and community.

Anthony Dennis Obituary

Anthony Allen Dennis, age 70, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Anthony's wishes were to be cremated. Services have not yet been scheduled and will be updated as they are made.

Known to all as Allen, he was born on April 11, 1955, in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, to Jim and Felicitas Dennis. A graduate of Warner Robins High School and Mercer University, Allen eventually settled in Beaufort where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and faith.

Allen dedicated his life to his passion for flying. He served his country with honor for over 20 years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As a highly decorated C-141 Starlifter pilot, he flew combat missions in Operations DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, and SOUTHERN WATCH. While continuing his service in the Air Force Reserves, Allen achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a Captain with Delta Air Lines. He flew with Delta for more than 30 years, amassing tens of thousands of flight hours and earning the deep respect of his peers for his skill and professionalism.

Beyond the cockpit, Allen was a gifted athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, and football at the high school, collegiate, and minor league levels. He was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Kentucky Wildcats, and his passion for the game was a lifelong source of joy.

Allen also had a deep love for music and entertaining. As a talented musician and singer, he brought joy to many, the stage was his home. He will be remembered most for his never-ending sense of humor and quick wit, which filled every room with laughter and warmth.

The singular focus and love of Allen's life was his daughter, Molly. He gave her the greatest gift one person can give another, he believed in her. His unwavering confidence in her served as her armor throughout life. He proudly watched her follow in his footsteps, achieving her own dreams of becoming a licensed pilot and an instructor pilot. They were truly best friends, sharing their time talking about flying, watching the Reds, Bengals, or Wildcats, and laughing at his bad dad jokes and dance moves. Molly hopes to honor his memory by living with the same courage and integrity he taught her to value.

Allen's kindness, laughter, and spirit touched all who knew him and will remain with them always. Though his absence is deeply felt, his loved ones take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the memories they will forever cherish. Until we are together again, may you rest in peace and soar freely with your new wings.

Allen is survived by his daughter Molly Dennis, his fiancée Tammy Johnson, his father James (Jim) Dennis, his brother James (Eddie) Dennis, his sister Diana Dennis Mizell, his sister-in-law Toni Prevatt Dennis, his brother-in-law Allan Mizell, and his former spouse Beverly Brown Dennis. He is also remembered by many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Felicitas Dennis.

Russ Johansen Obituary

Russ Harry Johansen passed away early morning on July 9, 2025 in Sacramento, CA.  Russ was born in Seattle, WA on September 22, 1943.  As a young boy, Russ worked on a fishing boat on the waters from Settle to Alaska.  Later in his childhood, he soloed a sea plane and acquired his private pilot’s license on Lake Union, WA.  At 17, Russ joined the Air Force and was stationed in Texas, working as an aircraft mechanic while continuing to build flight hours through the Air Force Aero Club.  Russ was hired by Pacific Northern Airlines in 1965 and was based in Anchorage, Alaska, trained as a flight engineer on the Lockheed L-188 Electra and Constellations.  He was furloughed after a few months and while on furlough he was hired by Western on 1/17/66, Russ soon became one of the youngest Captains in the United States at the age of 26.  Later, he flew the 707, 720, 727, 737 and the L-1011 TriStar for Western and Delta Airlines respectively.  He finished his career flying the Boeing 777 to Europe as a Captain and a check airman.  Russ was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed nature and animals of all kinds.  He had an admiration for anything to do with aviation.  Russ is survived by his wife, Peggy Nickerson Johansen; his son Chris (Charla) Johansen and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Best of all he loved the fall.  The leaves on the cottonwoods, leaves floating on the trout streams, and above the hills the high blue windless skies: Now he will part of them forever.
