Diane STONE Obituary

Diane Frances Stone (Chapdelaine), age 64, of Cusick, Washington, passed away on July 13, 2023, after a brief battle with leukemia. Diane lived on the Pend Oreille River, where she and her husband of 44 years, William (Gene) Stone (born in Louisville, KY), settled just before retiring.

Diane was born on November 8, 1958, to parents William and Jacqueline Chapdelaine in Chicopee, Massachusetts. As a child, she enjoyed summer days at the beach in Rhode Island, camping, a myriad of outdoor activities, reading, bowling, and many gatherings of her large extended family. Even as a young child, charity and laughter were hallmark characteristics. She attended Mount Carmel for elementary school. At Holyoke Catholic High School she excelled in academics and athletics. She set her sights on the sky, earning an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the first class of women. (Her mom had been in the first class of women at Boston College - tough ladies!)

At the Academy, while singing in the Cadet Catholic Choir, she met fellow choir member, Gene Stone. As their relationship grew, Diane ultimately decided to pass on the opportunity to serve in the Air Force, focusing instead on building a family with Gene. In June 1979, they married in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Granby, MA. As Gene served in the Air Force, they explored our country with assignments to Mississippi, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Washington State. Diane completed her BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Mississippi State University as she was expecting the first of their four children. Along came Frances followed by William, Beth, and Ellen. While Gene flew the world over, Diane used her cadet training to help squadron spouses cope with military life, deployments, and numerous other squadron issues. Her primary life's work was lovingly caring for her children and a menagerie of pets, including her beloved Border Terrier, Rocky.

An avid reader, Diane went to work in the Spokane Public Library system once the kids could fend for themselves. At SPL she enjoyed connecting people with resources and learning. She genuinely loved interactions with staff and customers alike.

Diane retired from the library in 2013. Gene retired from both the Air Force (1999) and Delta Airlines (2017). Together they shared an immense love of travel. They split time visiting family and the world at large on many cruises and RV adventures. Together they visited over 30 countries and 6 continents. They generously shared a life full of laughter, good food, family, friends, and love. Diane was a devoted "Mémére" to her 9 grandchildren.

As a lifelong Catholic, Diane cherished her faith and enjoyed serving the Church in various ways, including music ministry. She gave of her time and talent to her local Grange, where she loved socializing, quilting, and sewing (including many children's clothing items she crafted and donated). She often delighted family and friends with homemade gifts, including huckleberry jam and clothing, lovingly sewn.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Jackie Chapdelaine. She will be terribly missed by her husband William (Gene) Stone; father Bill Chapdelaine; siblings William Chapdelaine, Anne Chapdelaine, Lisanne Chapdelaine, and Andrea Tetreault; children Frances Liberto (David) of Charlotte, NC, William Stone (Joile Forral) of Mead, Beth Reamer (Michael) of Deer Park, and Ellen Addington (Jimmy) of Reardan; and grandchildren Teresa, Cyprian, Martin, Stephen, and John Paul Liberto, Ari Reamer, and Kinlee, Everett, and Logan Addington. Many others will miss her including the extended Chapdelaine and Stone families and her many cherished friends.

Services will be held at St Anthony Catholic Church in Newport, Washington, on August 10th at 11 am. A memorial fellowship will follow in the parish hall from noon until 4:30 PM. Come share your Diane stories with family and friends. The memorial will conclude with the rosary in the church at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calispel Pend Oreille County Grange, 10171 LeClerc Rd S, Newport, WA 99156.

Rutherford McGuire Obituary

Rutherford Thomas McGuire passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born on April 18, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Willie Estes "Buffalo Bill" McGuire and Bernice Mildred Howell McGuire. Rudd was the adoring husband of Kristine Watts McGuire, and the loving father of Shannon McGuire and Suzanna McGuire. Rudd was the proud grandfather of Jack and Matthew Doty, and Abigail and William Jones. He was the brother of the late Diann Stringer and Dr. William McGuire.

Rudd grew up in the small town of Talihina, Oklahoma, where he rode horses, competed in local rodeos, and played an array of sports. He graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was sent to pilot training. The Air Force sparked his need for adventure and Rudd spent the next 40 years traveling and living around the world as a pilot in the military and for Northwest Airlines. Upon his retirement as a Captain, he had over 12,000 flight hours.

The true renaissance man he was, he maintained his status as a registered pharmacist and practiced pharmacy in his downtime for several years. Rudd could navigate anything from a hot air balloon, to a 747, or a giant van through the streets of London. Aside from his professional accolades, Rudd was a genuine person with an infectious personality and will be remembered by all who ever met him. He loved his family as deeply as anyone can and they are blessed to have had him in their lives. He and his wife recently relocated to Mandeville, Louisiana, to be closer to family. Obituary : Carl David 'Dave' Lundin

Carl “Dave” David Lundin, age 91, of Dresser, WI, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 surrounded by family at the Christian Community Homes in Osceola, WI.

Dave was born December 24, 1931 to parents, Carl and Inet Lundin, in Minneapolis, MN. He attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1949. He Entered Gustavus Adolphus College to pursue a Pre Law course of studies for 2 Years. He transferred to the University of Minnesota and entered the Law School “2-4” program and accepted an NROTC Scholarship. He graduated June 11, 1955, and was commissioned (Ensign USN, 15 June 1955). He earned his wings in Pensacola, FL, transferring to Corpus Christi, TX and then to Bermuda. In 1959, he left active duty and joined the Ready Reserves, moving back to Minnesota, where he would serve 20+ years as a pilot, and earn top ranking as Captain, USNR. In the reserves, Dave, serving as Squadron CO, and his crew, received the Noel Davis Trophy in 1974 for being the most efficient aviation division of the USNR. In 1966, Dave started his career as a commercial pilot for Northwest Airlines.

Dave met Angie Porter during the summer of 1950 at Deer Lake, WI. Angie knew he was “the one” by December of that year, but due to Naval regulations, they had to wait until after Dave’s graduation before they were finally wed on June 18, 1955. In their 68 years of marriage, they were blessed with 3 boys: Mark, Greg, and Peter. The boys were raised in Bloomington, MN, which served as a convenient location for Dave’s commute to NAS Minneapolis and MSP Airport. In 1982, Dave and Angie moved into their home in Dresser, WI, - affectionately named “Waterlot” after a favorite Bermuda restaurant – where Dave became an active member in the community, serving as chairman of St. Croix Falls Township. Dave was president of the rotary club for a year but was an active member up until his death.

Dave was a storyteller, and he loved to share tales about his time stationed in Bermuda during his Navy days, as well as stories about his family history and his Swedish ancestors. His children and grandchildren were also told much-beloved, make-believe tales about “Spunk, Punk, and Joe,” which were characters originally created and passed down by his own father. He had an appreciation for classical music and the arts, and he enjoyed supporting and attending plays at Festival Theater in St. Croix Falls. Computers were also of interest to him, and he enjoyed attending computer club in the Cities. Dave could also always be counted on to have a stash of black licorice in his office.

A devout Christian, Dave was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. He supported Luther Point Bible Camp in Grantsburg, WI, which his own grandchildren attended. He also attended Lay school in Chippewa Falls for many years and participated in a mission trip to Malawi, Africa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; and son, Peter.

Jason Schwerin Imlay City MI, Endeavor Air Captain died from Pulmonary Embolism The entire Schwerin family are mourning the passing of an only child, a great husband, and a father. Learn more about Jason Schwerin death and obituary.

Jason Schwerin Death – The entire Schwerin family are mourning the passing of an only child, a great husband, and a father. Endeavor Air Captain Jason Schwerin of Imlay City, Michigan was announced dead on Monday, the 13th of March 2023 at approximately 7:40 pm. He died at the young age of 31. There have been claims that Jason was out shopping with his family when he suddenly collapsed and became unable to breathe. A call was placed to 911.

What happened to Jason Schwerin?

He did regain consciousness, but his heart stopped beating while he was being transported to the hospital in the ambulance. They were successful in getting it started a few more times; but, when it stopped for the final time, they worked on him for fifty-five minutes but were unable to get him going again.

The autopsy report has finally been completed, and it states that the cause of his death was a Pulmonary Embolism of undetermined cause. Please keep Maria and Lucas, who are attempting to go on without him, in your thoughts as they search for a means to move forward.

“So very sorry for your loss. Jason was my Line Check Airman at Endeavor a couple of years ago and I have fond memories of flying with him.”

Who was Jason Schwerin?

Jason maintained his modesty and dedication to his core ideals despite his meteoric rise to fame. Relationships were always more important to him than achievements, and many of his most important friendships and business partnerships were formed through his professional endeavours. The many loyal friends he has acquired over the years attest to his unwavering dedication to doing the right thing and treating others with respect.

Though he was a man of strong will and quick wit, Jason’s generous heart is often what people remember most about him. Whenever something romantic happened, he was usually the first to cry. Jason was the type to quietly assist others without expecting anything in return.

DARREL GODSIL ASCHBACHER

The Prineville Legend

Born: June 2, 1936 in Prineville, Oregon.

To: Laurie and Jake Aschbacher.

Description: A feisty redhead with beautiful blue eyes that sparkled when he laughed.

Siblings: Older brother Ronald Jacob Aschbacher baby sister Donna Eleanore Christina

Aschbacher; and older sister and confidant Thelma Louise Slouber.

And the story begins…

He is very funny; it started when he was just a tyke and followed him through life until

the day he died - what a joy! We all participated. Laugher and high jinks from his fathers

Ochoco Creamery; the hay fields and cattle ranches of Prineville; and then on to the

University of Oregon football team; the1958 Rose Bowl; and the Philadelphia Eagles in

1959 where he roomed with John Madden.  Oh, he’s not done yet…

High school in Prineville is where he met his young, soon to be bride, Beverly

Aschbacher. They, with their two young children David and Darlene lived this journey

together.

He went on to fly his beloved airplanes with Delta Airlines from 1961 until he retired

(mandatory) at 60. And he just keeps keeping on… Based in Dallas Texas, after a stint

in New Orleans, brought a whole new world to the Aschbacher’s. And the fun just

continued… And yes, the awards and accolades have kept him entertained and

delighted.

Darrel Godsil Aschbacher, full of love, crazy beyond reproach, full of fun and has

impacted all that have been so lucky to call him family and friend. Even those who only

know him in passing. He’s unique and adored by all (most) unless crossed - be careful

She is Gone

by David Harkins

You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her

Or you can be full of the love that you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday

You can remember her and only that she is gone

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back

Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Gordon F Young Jr, age 85, of Skillman, NJ, passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, on April 30, 2023. He was born in Troy, NY on July 4, 1937, to Ruth and Gordon Young Sr. He was joined by two sisters, Priscilla and Judy, in the following years. After grade school in Ardsley, NY, he graduated from Mount Hermon School for Boys in Gill, Massachusetts, in 1955, and the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, in 1959. Upon his graduation in 1959, Gordon entered the United States Marine Corps, where he served for seven years, and received an honorable discharge as Aviation Captain. After this, he spent several years in the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada as a bush pilot, assisting prospectors and scientists with their work.

From there, he pivoted into commercial aviation, and began an exciting and successful career as an international airline pilot for Pan-American World Airways, and later, Delta Airlines. He began with Pan Am on Valentines Day 1966, as a Navigator on the Boeing 707 Airplane, using the ancient art of celestial navigation to navigate the skies. During the Vietnam War, Gordon was assigned to assist the military by flying supplies on Pan Am aircraft to Vietnam. In his 42 year career, Gordon advanced from Flight Navigator, to First Officer, to Captain, and had ratings on many different aircraft, including B707, B747, B727, B737, B767, DC8 and L1011. He had an illustrious 42 year career as an international Pan Am and Delta Airlines Captain. Gordon is and was one of the few pilots remaining from "the Golden Age of Air Travel."

Work, life and play took him to many parts of the world. Gordon lived in quite a few- and shared interesting stories about all of them! He commuted from Queens, San Francisco, Mt. Tamalpais in Mill Valley, CA and Southport, CT to pilot 747s out of JFK Airport. In 1969, he contracted Cheoy Lee of Hong Kong to build the 36' ketch sailboat, AUM, and deliver her to FL. Gordon docked AUM in the Bahamas, a frequent destination for his mother, stepfather, and many friends who enjoyed exciting and amusing boating holidays. He lived in New York, San Francisco, off his sail boat in the Bahamas, in Berlin, Germany, and eventually settled in Lawrenceville, and later Skillman, NJ.

Gordon's big passion was hunting, a hobby since childhood. He went on many hunting trips all over the United States, in Germany, and Argentina. A nature-lover at heart, he and his dog were always planning their next outdoor adventure. Gordon even completed the German hunting license, the Jaegerbrief in Germany and was subsequently invited to a German Hunt. He began hunting as a young man with his father in upstate New York, and didn't stop until his last hunting trip in Arizona at the age of 85.

After retiring, Gordon was also actively involved in social services as a friend and mentor to many in the community. He volunteered with Stanford Rescue Squad in Stanford, NY; the Juvenile Conference Committees of New Jersey in Lawrenceville, NJ, and did dog therapy with his hunting dog, Adal, at Morris Hall, also in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Gordon was also a loving husband and father. He married his college sweetheart, Wendy Faber in 1960, and they welcomed a daughter Annette together. In 1975, Gordon married his second wife Maria, and spent fifteen years together. In that time, they designed and built a passive solar house in the 1980s in upstate New York, a mostly unknown concept at the time. In 1991, Gordon married his third wife, Heidi, and later that year, their daughter Jennifer was born. Gordon's family had many branches, but he always made sure to keep in touch and let his loved ones know he cared about them; many of his friends and family members remarked that they had "just spoken" to him prior to his passing. He especially enjoyed connecting with his daughters Annette and Jennifer, whom he spoke to every night.

Gordon is survived by daughters Annette Czack (Jim) of Loudon, NH and Jennifer Young (George Athanail) of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Langdon Tarbell (Molly) of Lee, NH and Josie Toepfer (Owen) of Phoenix, AZ, and great grandson Lawrence Toepfer.; sisters Judy Townsend of Guttenburg, NJ and Tonbridge, England and Priscilla Mathews Young of Minneapolis, MN. Gordon lived a remarkable and fruitful life and made a difference for many.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 50 Cherry Hill Road, Princeton, New Jersey 08540-7626. Service begins at 1:15pm.
