USAF veteran, DL Capt. James Edward Chapman

February 2, 1936 – December 29, 2024



From friends and colleagues comes word with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot Captain Jim Chapman, age 88.  Jim joined Delta Air Lines 06-13-1966 and was Dallas based.  He is survived by his wife Karen, and by his children and grandchildren.

Services will be held January 14th at St. Vincent’s Cathedral in Bedford, Texas with reception to follow.  Please see obituary below for details.

James “Jim” Edward Chapman, 88, of Bedford, TX passed away on December 29, 2024. He was born in Purvis, Mississippi on February 2, 1936. Jim was in the first graduating class out of the Air Force Academy in 1959. He was married to Karen Chapman on November 3, 1969 in Rochester, MI. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 – 1966 and was awarded the Air Medal in 1965. Jim was also a pilot with Delta Airlines from 1966 until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed golf, travel, jokes, and spending time with his family.

 

Jim was survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Chapman, his daughters Katy Chase and Cyndy Paris, his son Tom Chapman (Gwen Chapman) and his grandsons Gannon Chase, Kellen Chase, Preston Paris, and Canon Chapman.

 

A funeral service will be held January 14th at 2:00pm at St. Vincent’s Cathedral, 1300 Forest Ridge Dr. Bedford, TX 76022. Afterwards, a Celebration of Life followed by a reception will be held at 3:30pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX, 76034.
