Subject:  Death of DL pilot Capt. David L. Whitley , age 69
Notification of the passing of Viet Nam war veteran and retired Delta
pilot Captain David Whitley.  Born March 20, 1942 David Lawrence
Whitley was 69 years of age at the time of his passing January 21,
2012.  Captain Whitley hired on with Delta 10-17-1969 and was based
CVG.  Arrangements are being handled by Fares J. Radel although I
haven’t yet seen the obituary posted on their site http://www.faresjradel.com/ 
The obituary below indicates services will be private.
Survived by his wife Joanne personal condolences may be sent to 5124

Captain David L. WHITLEY
1942 ~ 2012

David L. Whitley, died at his home in Cincinnati on Jan. 21. in the
early morning hours during an ice storm. He was born in New Orleans to
Harold T. Whitley of New Orleans and Anita Colbert Whitley of Ackerman
Mississippi on the first day of Spring 1942. He grew up in Jackson
Mississippi. He attended Luling School and was graduated from Murrah
High School. In 1960 he entered the United States Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs. He finished his college years at the University of
Mississippi at Oxford. After Ole Miss he married Linda McCormick of
Forrest Mississippi. Their marriage ended in divorce. He spent 6 years
in the Air Force during the Viet Nam war. Flying as a Captain in the
Military Air Command. He went to work for Delta Air lines and retired
30 years later as a Captain flying MD11's He is survived by his
beloved wife of 36 years--Joanne Brennan Whitley of Miami Florida. His
brother Donald of Denver. CO., Robert of Jackson, Ms., and his Sister
Anita Moynihan of Delray Beach, Fl. Memorial donations may be made in
David's name to the Southern Poverty Law Center,400 Washington Ave.
Montgomery AL. 36104. Interment will be private. Arrangements are
under the care of Fares J. Radel, Cincinnati, Ohio.
