We have received word from the Kolb family that U. S. Navy veteran and retired DL Captain Ronald ‘Ron’ Kolb has passed away at the age of 76 years. Captain Kolb hired on with Delta 10-03-1966 and retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1996, based Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, New Waverly TX, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 with visitation this evening at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.

Ronald Alan Kolb
Ron Kolb of Willis, TX, and long-time resident of New Waverly, TX, passed away on March 2, 2013 at the age of 76 following an extended illness. He is survived by his loving wife Becky, daughter Robin and her husband Chris, son Gary and his wife Donna, son Stewart and his wife Shari, and grandchildren Caris, Caitlyn, Chris, Stephen, Derick and Cahill. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Naomi Kolb and sister Verna Erhmann of Huntingdon Valley, PA.
Ron is a graduate from Penn State University with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the US Navy as Lieutenant Commander flying missions from aircraft carriers USS Intrepid, USS Randolph, USS Essex accumulating over 200 carrier landings and serving as the squadron Landing Signal Officer (LSO) until 1964. He continued his flight career for 30 years with Delta Airlines as Captain until his retirement in 1996.
Ron and his wife Becky were heavily involved in the community throughout his working career and into his retirement years. Some of his notable contributions are his serving on the Walker County Fair Committees, various homeowner association boards, and his leadership with the formation of the New Waverly Public Library and the design and construction of their new facility.
Most of all, Ron was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, and cherished his family time. He always exhibited a positive can-do attitude when meeting challenges and exploring new ventures. Ron was ready and willing to help others and one we could always count on for support and guidance.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church New Waverly at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
