Obituary: Sherman B. Cornell
Sherman Bruce Cornell, age 78, passed away on Thursday, April
10, 2014 at the Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield, IL. Sherman was born on
June 29, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, raised in Flint, Michigan, and lived in
Glen Ellyn for the past 53 years. He was life-long aviator who began flight
lessons at 12 years old. He was a retired airline pilot having flown with North
Central Airlines, Republic Airlines and Northwest Airlines for 35 years. He was
an avid world traveler who loved gourmet cuisine, bawdy humor and fly fishing.
Most of all, he loved, and is beloved, by his devoted family. Sherman is
survived by his wife, Robbie, of 53 years; daughter, Colleen of Glendale
Heights, IL; son, Scott (Rhonda) Cornell of Wrightwood, CA; son, Brian
(Wioletta) Cornell of Shelby, MT; and grandchildren, Michael (Varinia), Silvia
(David), Hunter, Tanner, McKenzie and Payton. A small private memorial service
was held on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
