Captain Robert E. Ryan age 91, of Fulton died September 4,
2013 at Haws Memorial Nursing Home.
Captain Ryan was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in
Martin, TN, a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps where he served in World War
II and received several medals; Distinguished Flying Cross, Chinese Medal of
Honor, Chinese Flying Cross and Air Medal with Clusters. Captain Ryan worked for
KLN Airlines as a airline pilot then worked for North Central Airlines from
August 1, 1949 until his retirement. He was a resident of this area for the past
14 years.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Sadich Ryan whom he
married May 29, 1942, one daughter Becky (Buddy) Caldwell of Fulton, KY, two
sons Richard Ryan of Brentwood, CA, Ronald (Ricci) Ryan of Crystal Lake, IL, one
grandson Warren Caldwell of Fulton, KY.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alice
Bernice Connery Ryan and one sister.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 am Saturday at St. Jude
Catholic Church in Martin, TN with burial to follow in Pleasant View Memorial
Gardens. Friends may call the Hornbeak Funeral Home from 5-8 Friday and at the
St. Jude Catholic Church Saturday at the service hour.
