News with the passing of retired
NEA/DL pilot Captain Charles Buford Smith has been received. Captain Smith was
83 years of age at the time of his passing. Captain Smith joined Northeast
Airlines 08-12-1957 and
retired with Delta Air Lines in January
1992. He was based DFW for much of his career, then PDX at the time of his
retirement. Captain Smith is survived by his wife (F/A) Mary Shutt Smith. As

Charles B. (Chuck) Smith, 83, of
Forestburg, Texas, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Denton, Texas.
Born in Wrightsville, GA, January 28, 1932 to S.J. and Mae (Davies) Smith.
He was a pilot with Northeast and Delta Air Lines for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith, daughter, Shelley Hackett and son
in law, Dan Hackett of Coral Springs, FL; daughters Valerie Hackett of Toluca
Lake, CA and Michelle Smith of Austin, TX; son Marshall Smith and daughter and
daughter in law. Janelle, Smith of Forestburg, TX; six grandchildren and five
great grandchildren ,, and his brother, Randall Smith of Metaire, LA.
Preceded in death by his son, Christopher Louis Smith; his brother, S.J
(jim) Smith and his sister, Betty Jean Goodrich.

Carol, I just received this notice from a retired DFW pilot, who's on the
LINK..................
Hi Carole, I just got
word that C.B. SMITH (Chuck), passed away today (2/16) and that he did
not want a funeral service. His wife’s name is Mary. She was a Flight Attendant.
I don't know any other details.
