Ed went home to be with the Lord at 00:15 this morning.  He went peaceably in his sleep with his family at his side.  As soon as Cheryl gets the details set with the kids, etc., I will forward it to you all.  Ed is to be cremated & there will be a Memorial Service for him here in ATL and/or perhaps MSY.  Will send it all out as soon as I receive it in the next couple of days!  Thanks to you all for your thoughts & prayers for Ed & for Cheryl & the rest of the family. Stand by....................

Captain Ed Smith, 78, is in Embracing Hospice in Cumming, GA* & is not expected to live but a few more days!  His wife Cheryl & other family members are at his side with many pilots & friends coming in for a few minutes.  It is VERY sad to see him in this condition knowing him for the 35+ years some of us have.  Ed was based in MSY & ATL and retired in 1997. He was very active in ALPA work & a true friend.
