Notification with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot Captain Mario 'Mike' Peruzzi, age 87. 
Captain Peruzzi joined Delta Air Lines 09-10-1956 and retired in 1987, based ATL.

Mario John Peruzzi, 87, of Peachtree City, GA passed away on March 26, 2015. He was born, raised, and schooled in New York, borough of Queens. He joined the Navy for the duration of World War II where he was trained in NY, and then at the GA Naval Air Station, as an Air Traffic Controller. He was sent to San Francisco, CA in 1945 to be shipped to the Pacific. This was right before the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and the war ended. He stayed in the Navy for the duration of the year. Two years later Mario joined the NY Army National Guard, where he became a Lieutenant. He also worked at Sperry Gyroscope on Long Island during that time while taking flying lessons to receive his commercial pilot's license. Delta Airlines hired him in fall of 1956, and he reluctantly retired at age 60, in 1987, flying the International Routes as Captain on the L-1011. Mario is Survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Stoecker Peruzzi; sons, Mario Jr., Scott, Kyle, and Christopher; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda), Anjelica, Stefan, and Alyssa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Matilda Peruzzi.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life Service at a future date.
