U.S. Veteran, Wade Anthony Boyles Senior, 77, of Weatherford passed away on Friday at home with his family by his side. He was a fun-loving prankster and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Wade was born on June 11, 1937 on Pink Street in Cherryville, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Cherryville High School in 1955. He graduated with a biology degree from Western Carolina University in 1959 where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and went to Pensacola, FL for flight training. Wade served as a Navy AWAC's pilot during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After seven years of service, he left as a lieutenant.
He later settled in Texas and became a senior commercial airline pilot for Delta Airlines where he enjoyed soaring the skies for 29 years. He retired at the rank of Captain of the L1011 in May of 1992.
He married Wanda Correll on April 12, 1986 in Cherryille, NC. Wade was a longtime resident of Weatherford, TX and an active member of Open Door Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Weatherford. He loved aviation and time spent at Possum Kingdom Lake with family and friends.
Wade is preceded in death by his mother and father, Vernie and JB Boyles, his son Wade "Skipper" Boyles and beloved dog Chanel.
Wade is survived by his wife Wanda Boyles of Weatherford, TX, his son David Boyles, and his wife Tanya Boyles grandson Joshua of Possum Kingdom, TX, his daughter Melinda Overstreet, and her husband Kaj Overstreet of Sunray, TX grandchildren Mason, Morgan and Kyla of Stillwater, OK, the mother of his children, Betty Boyles Richardson of Weatherford, TX, his step-daughter Teresa Kiser grandchildren Chris and Taylor of Weatherford, TX, grandson Nicholas Boyles of Weatherford, TX and grandson Steven Boyles of Arlington, TX, and his sister Linda Anthony and her husband Glenn Anthony of Cherryville, NC. Wade had 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Monday, April 13 from 6-8 p.m., at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave, Weatherford. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.. Tuesday, April 14, at First Baptist Church Weatherford, 306 Palo Pinto St., Weatherford. Graveside services will immediately follow at Memory Gardens.
