___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

RICH JACOBSON – Flown West

Rich Jacobson1948-2015
From Dave Steel.

"Rich Jacobson passed away last week after an 8 year battle with cancer".  Dave added: "Rich passed Thursday morning at about 6:00am cdt.  He was in PHX and all his children were able to get there in time to say their goodbyes.  He was divorced quite a few years ago – 3 children and I think 5 Grandkids."

Charlie Kehoe added: "He’d gotten a cold or something and with no immunity protection; it transitioned into Pneumonia."

Rich began his aviation career in the Air Force flying C-130s and KC-135s.  He joined Braniff in 1977 and stayed until the bankruptcy filing.  Another opportunity came along with Northwest Airlines and he upgraded through the seats finally leaving Northwest in 2001 as a B-747-400 Captain.  Rich divided his time between his home in Park Rapids, MN and in Peoria, AZ.  He was 67 years old when he passed away.
